It's genuinely funny, surprisingly so and has a zany but amusing plot. Lovely Sunday afternoon fare.

(nl) wrote: The opening moments of Susanne Bier's "After the Wedding" matches a montage of hot, earthy Indian slum imagery with music by Sigur Ros at their saddest and most prophetic, emphasizing the quiet gaps between every dark, dripping beat. This bit works so well, in fact, that it perfectly both sums up and prepares you for the film's drama-with-a-capital-D emotional turbulence. And like a Sigur Ros song, the devastating arc of "Wedding" plays like the nose of a jet engine always right about to crash before miraculously pulling up, leaving you lifted and alive.Truth be told "After the Wedding" is a bit too airy, and the movie's two hour runtime could have been tighter. But the humanness of leads Sidse Babett Knudsen, Rolf Lassgrd and the years-rising acting force of Mads Mikkelsen -- and, of course, screenwriters Bier and Anders Thomas Jensen -- keep "Wedding" from ever feeling contrived. No spoilers here. If you can, go in cold. Profoundly affecting.

(br) wrote: I guess this was original a short, so they padded it with extra scenes to make it feature length. Maybe that ruined the impact of the short? As it is, it isn't awful or anything, but the opening is loaded with iffy looking CGI. The cast is great, but some are under used. Shalhoub is very minor and D'Onofrio and Stowe aren't given a whole lot to do.I have to say that they set it up that Sinise is really an Alien impostor trying to blow someone up, but that doesn't make much sense cause in the end the actual bomb happens nowhere near the guy in question...so, bad script?I will say the twists were good, but not very hard to guess at the same time.Okay watch for a one time viewing on a raining day.

(us) wrote: Troubled Angelina moves to San Francisco & enters into adult entertainment. There's not much to this film aside from the story about a young girl who leaves home and enters the porn industry. Yes, it's that simple and yes it has Heather Graham in it so I'm already biased but I found the way the story was told was mostly interesting and the way it was shot as well. I did lose track towards the end regarding James Franco's character and just exactly *what* he did but it wasn't so important to the plot. It's an okay movie but it won't appeal to everyone - or many people I imagine.

(jp) wrote: It is said that Royal Tenenbaums is the most comical works from Wes Anderson but even so, it still possess the power to make you relate to the loneliness and struggles. The soundtrack is really brilliant by the way and Gene Hackman portrayed an excellent transformation of a person from bad to real good.
