Kyle A (br) wrote: Absolutely loved it. "Bass Ackwards" is a solid addition to the realist genre, fitting well with slower paced films like "Man Push Cart" and "Old Joy". The film is a road movie of sorts, following a late 20 year old who just can't get his life off the ground. After a rough patch, including a break up with an already married girlfriend, Linas decides to head back east and live with his parents as he rethinks his 'life options'. Like most of the films in its genres , "Bass Ackwards" is not about the end of the journey but rather the journey itself. On his way to Boston Linas encounters a diverse cast of characters whose life has an 'element of broke' just like his own. "Bass Ackwards" is a film that reminds us that life isn't perfect, but that at the endo f the day we have each other and sometimes that's good enough. "Bass Ackwards" is Arpke Approved at 4 1/2 out of 5 stars

Kevin M (ru) wrote: I had heard a fair bit of criticism about this Aussie film, and I wouldn't recommend it to overseas audiences. My enjoyment from it stemmed mostly from the familiarity with the comedic cast.

Michelle E (fr) wrote: Not really a zombie movie. Zombies are an underlying theme, but that's about it. Not much action and rather slow and boring for most of it.

Alison W (ru) wrote: A slow-building but highly-entertaining costume drama set in Victorian England. Rylance and Thomas have great chemistry, and since it's based on A.S. Byatt, you really can't go wrong! I liked the film's attention to detail, but I found the costumes a *little* too obvious.

Russell S (jp) wrote: There's so much heart, soul, fun and character in this tale of a young man striving to be popular with his college pals that you just can't help but feel uplifted by it. A very well crafted movie and one that's packed with charm throughout.

Lifeaswe K (ca) wrote: City of Ember doesn't have perfect pacing, and the lack of the action is very noticeable, but the acting is really good and the visuals stand out as we see the story of Ember being unfolded in front of us,little by little.

Scott P (de) wrote: First rate model effects work by Derek Meddings, and a "Twilight Zone" type story. Roy Thinnes puts the paranoid intensity he displayed in "The Invaders" to good use here. If you liked the "UFO" tv series (which came after this) and/or the Anderson's other works, you'll love this. Just re released (2008) on DVD.
