Faris S (it) wrote: SPOILERS THROUGHOUTUnlike the previous film (The Final Destination 2009), Final Destination 5 brings a couple things new to the franchise:-Someone to survive the premonition-Someone can replace your space in death Although this film is the only one to connect into another film in the franchise (the first film) another very small detail connects it to the third film (2006). As Olivia accidentally smashes her photo, you can see writing on it and a logo of the same roller coaster Wendy, Kevin, Lewis, Ashley, Ashlyn, Frankie, Ian and Erin all got off 6 years later after Wendy's premonition. Although, it does actually take an idea from FD3; the song (except it's not the same song) showing when danger is near, this could've been a smart move if they used the same song to help (obviously) connect the storylines but more or less, this could quite possibly be the best of the franchise so far.

Kenny N (mx) wrote: One of the most painful, depressing films of all time. In his review of "Taxi Driver," Roger Ebert said of Travis Bickle (I'm paraphrasing here) "We almost want to look away from his life." In this film, we DEFINITELY want to look away from the life of Dawn Wiener. Liked by no one, shunned by everyone, tortured and teased and treated cruelly at ever turn, this little girl's life is just plain SAD. They call this a black comedy. I didn't laugh. I felt miserable for her every moment. And what awards this film 5 stars from me despite the fact that I found it such a bitter pill to swallow is the fact that it could very well be a true story. There is truth in every frame of this film. There are countless girls (and boys) just like Dawn. We may even know one or two. We may not be the ones who treat them like sh!t and make their every waking moments a living hell, but we know about them. We know what they're going through. But we're not sure if we should try to be their friend. We're not sure who the person behind the pain is. This film is brilliant, but I don't think I'll ever watch it again because it depressed and saddened me in a way that so many things in the real world do. I go to the movies to escape those things. But still, a great portrait of a misfit who walks among us, even if she has nowhere to go.

Ken S (ru) wrote: John Carpenter knew how to create a creepy and scary atmosphere, even if the script isn't entirely focused. That is the only real issue with "In the Mouth of Madness", it is a simple how movie with a creepy atmosphere, good imagery, and a good lead, but the script never really nails it, it feels a little bit all over the place, which is odd since it is a fairly simple and straightforward story. I give this movie points for at least having some genuine scares. The guy on the bike is creepy as hell and genuinely weirded me out. Decent if you want a horror movie, but the script leaves a little to be desired.
