Keep 'Em Slugging
A gang of tough street kids decide to go straight and get jobs in order to free draft-age men for the war effort. However, because of their past tangles with the law, they can't find anybody who'll hire them. Finally one of them gets a job at the department store where his sister works, but runs afoul of a store executive who is in league with a ring of hijackers.

The only flaw was that it did not do as great of a job as it could have explaining the underlying mystery that was handled greatly in the book.

I was thrown on the age level of the two leads because of the casual boozing. I'll chalk that up to my lack of European-ness.

(mx) wrote: not the best but while im looking at both old movies today and my recent ongoing music movies (mostly) docs infatuation, this one is worth a look...with a great cast including the man Paul Newman and the amazing Sydney Poitier plus appearances from Satchmo Armstrong himself with music led by Duke Ellington and a lovely black and white look to PAris, the style alone make this worthwhile (esp as a background movie)
