A gang of tough street kids decide to go straight and get jobs in order to free draft-age men for the war effort. However, because of their past tangles with the law, they can't find anybody who'll hire them. Stephen R (mx) wrote: not the best but while im looking at both old movies today and my recent ongoing music movies (mostly) docs infatuation, this one is worth a look...with a great cast including the man Paul Newman and the amazing Sydney Poitier plus appearances from Satchmo Armstrong himself with music led by Duke Ellington and a lovely black and white look to PAris, the style alone make this worthwhile (esp as a background movie)
