However, there is no chemistry between him and Anna Paquin, I'm afraid, and the Canadian stereotypes pretty much killed the movie.

(it) wrote: Dead of Night it's not : in fact, mostly drivel. Notable only for an acting appearance by Stephen King, who wrote the stories.
(ca) wrote: Ok, this short film was great, well shot, good acting and good directing. That's why i'm here... F .Javier Gutierrez has been announced as director of The Crow remake which I am totally supportive of! It would be nice to bring something new to the series. After watching this and 'Norman's room' I am sure F. Javier Gutierrez can direct a faithful and good remake of The Crow. People judge him before they have seen how talented he is. i wish him the best of luck!

(fr) wrote: The movie reveals the director's genius by presenting non-dialogue scenes in extended periods of time without losing the viewer's interest. There were 2 such scenes that comprised a large portion of the film: the man-hunt of an escaped prisoner and a heist scene. One of the few details that kept it from being a perfect film, in my opinion, is that could have developed the characters more. Because of those two extended scenes, the rest of the movie is limited into how much development can be incorporated. The director chose to split the remaining time between the criminal activity and the policeman in charge of capturing the escaped criminal. To be a perfect film in my estimation would have given the movie a greater running time to include both worlds, the criminal and police investigation. Another possible option would have reduced the screen time of the police investigation to focus on the criminal element more in depth. But I can also appreciate what the director tried to do by having the contrast between the police investigation and criminal activity. It is nevertheless a great fun neo-noir heist movie.

(fr) wrote: I actually enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would considering its rotten reviews. It had its obvious low points, several weak spots that were supposed to be funny but it wasn't, but there were also several parts that made me laugh out loud. There was a lot of bad, but there was also enough good to make it an enjoyable experience overall. Or maybe I just have a huge crush on Aubrey Plaza??? I thought Robert Deniro was really funny in this.
