(fr) wrote: Delightfully dark and disturbing, yet hilariously funny film about the nonsense that is self-help literature and the repression of negative emotions. Side-splittingly funny in a very sinister way, full of "Oh no, they didn't!" moments and fueled with acute and thought-provoking moments. Quite the gem.
(ru) wrote: What an escape from historical accuracy! Just when I thought the 10 commandments was bad along comes September Dawn. This is a great movie if you already hate the Mormons and want to justify your hatred, however, the "facts" are seriously flawed and the acting poor at the best of times. The Arkansas company was not a band of innocents just trying to get to California in peace. Time and time again they poked at the Mormons and opened fresh wounds. Might I remind you that they also had a bunch with them called the Missouri Wild Cats that threatened the normally peaceful Mormon settlers with extinctiion, something real in the Mormon's minds since they had just fled Missouri where governor Boggs had legalized the extermination of all Mormons in that state and Illinois where thier prophet had just been murdered. The Arkansas people were also not entirely innocent since Parley P. Pratt had just been murdered there and some of the company claimed authorship of those murders. The US government had just issued a command for the army to enter Utah territory to remove Brigham Young as governor and subdue the people. This was seen as another attempt to destroy the Mormons. Were the Mormon justified? No absolutely not. However, they must have truly felt that the Arkansas company would go to California, raise a militia, return and kill them all. So what would you do and how far would you go to protect your way of life? How many Iraqi and Afgan women and children have died because America felt it had to protect itself from future attacks? How many movies have you seen about the Hauns Mill Massacre? Never heard of it? That's because it was the Mormon men, women and children who were killed and there are no anti-anti-Mormons out there willing to produce a movie like that. Think about it.

(fr) wrote: This movie isn't all that bad, it's not a masterpiece by any means, and I don't know if i would recommend it but it if you see on TV and nothing else is on, tune in, you may be suprised, the acting is okay, and some of the jokes aren't terrible, some parts of this movie are overplayed and a little cliche but this movie has some merit and is somewhat enjoyable
(it) wrote: Totally delightful, funny and clever film that children and adults can both enjoy, with some of cleverness really intended for the grownups. To me this is the kind of movie of which Hollywood should make more, because it would encourage families to go to the movies together and adults wouldn't have to sit through kids' movies bored out of their skulls. Also, as the children grow, they can still love the movies they loved as kids themselves, and eventually they can watch them with their own offspring and still appreciate it as much as they did when they were children.

(gb) wrote: This is a film I will remember forever; it is heartbreaking. Louis Malle's Au Revoir, les Enfants tells the story of innocence lost and childhoods cut short during WWII. The acting is powerful, the script is subtle, and Louis Malle's direction is heartfelt. Overall, one of the greatest WWII films I've ever seen because of its sheer power. Masterful.
(kr) wrote: innovative, really unique original story, quite well done for film. the special effects are not of the caliber of what is available in now, but this was filmed decades ago. If you like science fiction that is more involved, interesting, and original than a gaggle of space special effects, you should enjoy this movie very much. I guarantee you will never think about aliens the same way again.

(kr) wrote: It's too much expected that an old story like Beauty and the Beast is tread along so much that there isn't much left to work well with. Such is the case with Beastly, a retelling that has little to tell in the procedure. It's writing is on the levels of Twilight and it's leads are somehow even worse than Bella and Edward. If you're a teen girl or someone who who's trying to find a date movie. Beastly may fit your expectations. But for me, it was just too obvious and poorly executed to put a spark in the old story.

Pamela Springsteen is actually quite incredible in this! Whether intentional or not, the way she portrays Angela is ingenious, she's a witty crazy murderous legend... Despite others opinions the Sleepaway camp experience is not complete without this instalment...
