David S (br) wrote: The talk about Simpson-Bowles is very uninformed. First, deficit reduction in the middle of the biggest recession since the Great Depression is just plain stupid, that's how the Great Depression was made. Second, it was two Republicans, most importantly Paul Ryan, who nixed the proposed (but never even voted on) report by the co-chairs Simpson and Bowles; this effectively neutered the whole process, since Obama could not have adopted their plan since the Republicans said they would under no circumstances agree to it (because Norquist claims that allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire is "raising taxes"). It's Paul Ryan and Norquist who are being divisive by being unwilling to compromise on their "principle" (which apparently is the 'principle' that rich people need even more money to create less jobs).

Spencer S (ru) wrote: North is the worst movie I've ever seen. I would give it zero stars if this site would let me, but it's true. It is a racist, unfunny, ugly "family" picture. However what propels it to the worst is two aspects. 1 it's for kids, screw you producers. Kids don't deserve to see such a morally challenge film at any such age. Two, unlike something like Garbage Pail Kids, this had something to go on. This has good actors and a good director, so how could the produce such a putrid pile of filth like this. Also North has the distinction of being based on a short story, so how it is this bad baffles me. Garbage Pail Kids at least had something of an excuse, a bad excuse, but an excuse: it was based on trading cards. So obviously the movie will be bad. North has no excuses, it is an awful movie, no, it's no movie, it's an abomination. It is trash, it is demoralizing, it is incompetent, it will always be, in my mind, the worst movie I've EVER seen

Bradley Cooper probably gave the best performance of his career playing this hero so realistically! He was defiantly the right casting choice just like Clint Eastwood was the best directing choice
Mike C (kr) wrote: Excellent legal thriller for first time director Tony Gilroy. George Clooney is in his element playing tortured and insolvent lawyer Michael Clayton that 'fixes' problems for his law firms clients and sometimes co-workers. Tilda Swinton plays the villan and thoroughly deserved her oscar. But Tom Walkinshaw delivers his best work in years playing an unhinged lawyer defending an agricultural chemical giant against a class action lawsuit on a fertilizer with lethal side effects.
