Justin N (nl) wrote: The third and final entry in Godfrey Reggio's series of silent documentaries was by far the most captivating for me. I went into it having read that it was the weakest entry, but I felt the complete opposite after watching it. Phillip Glass' score has a sense of energy and urgency that it doesn't have on either of the prior two films, and sometimes I found myself detaching from the images to concentrate on it.The images themselves focus on all sorts of aggressive activities - war, sports, advertising, and stock trading, for example - and then switch to focus on images that drastically contrast with them - infants playing and wild animals running, etcetera. The film's title means "civilized violence" and it certainly depicts this in an interestingly broad and captivating way.

Bruce B (ru) wrote: Abbott and Costello have always been my favorite stars when it comes to comedy, I remember watching them on WOR channel 9 out of New York on Sunday mornings after church. That was analog channel 9 not digital, ha. Anyway this is one of the very few and maybe the only movie that I never saw as a kid, But had the pleasure of watching it today. The skits about Doctor Zoomer and with the mummy were about as good as one will see on the screen, They set the bar for comedy which we seldom see today. In this Movie Bud and Lou are over in Egypt when they run into the Mummy, It must have been later when they again ran into the Mummy and Frankenstein. I'd like to give it 5 stars but its not the best Abbott and Costello so 4 1/2 stars.
