Salah A (ca) wrote: Despite its obvious pacing issues, 'ParaNorman' has clever humor and a story worth telling.

Chris M (jp) wrote: A low-budget, (almost) arthouse horror film, that sort-of mashes up the zombie and vampire genres. It owes a lot to The Road, with the central pairing of Martin and Mister trying to survive this apocalyptic world where the vampires are the least of their worries. It's often slow-paced, but in a very good way. It's quietly brooding, with a near constant feeling of threat and dread. Michael Cerveris is terrifying as the head of a cult who seem utterly amoral and willing to stop at nothing to exert control. This is truly the end of civilisation. And it's not afraid to introduce characters you want to root for, that you hope will make it out OK, and then, they don't. Recommended.

Daniel V (br) wrote: The shift in tone is a bit too jarring, yet there are some things to like about Jackie Gleeson's final film. The Honeymooner is a craggy Ralphlike self in the story of a estranged father/son duo trying to understand why they are so estranged. The guy trying to repair it on the other end is funnyman Tom Hanks. Hanks gets to show off some real dramatic chops towards the end of this flick. The first comedy 2/3 is much better than the dreary third act. But if this would've been heavy drama for the whole 2 hours, who knows? For my money, I would've stuck to the funny.

Blind P (us) wrote: A vapid foray through the 1970s Hollywood setting that signifies very little and entertains even less, this stylish entry does not even come close to living up to the hype.
