Land of Look Behind

Land of Look Behind

There has never been a documentary like "Land of Look Behind". Relatively unknown due to poor distribution and New York Film Festival skullduggery, this breathtaking film presents a unique epic vision with quasi-dramatic elements and cinematographic wizardry. The non-reggae original soundtrack is outstanding, as is the reggae music of Bob Marley and Gregory Isaacs. The great documentary filmmaker Werner Herzog has called "Look Behind" the non-fiction film that has influenced him most over the last fifteen years. Indeed, this film's peers are the best of Herzog, Bunuel's "Land Without Bread", Flaherty's "Nanook" and Leacock-Pennebaker's "Louisiana Story". With thoughtful viewing, one will see this moving documentary actually end with a lovely little dream sequence. No American has come close to making a film this ingenious in the last thirty years.

Land of Look Behind torrent reviews

Ahmed S (it) wrote: No matter how small a movie's production is, or how simple a plot could be, you can still have a groundbreaking achievement that gives you the feeling of a whole era without having one shot outside of a house and the field surrounding it. Tangerines is the war movie that deserves to be nominated for oscars, and not American Sniper. No wonder Tangerines is the complete opposite of it in all departments.

Jacob B (fr) wrote: For a sequel to a movie I have not seen. The laughs are hit and miss, and The Rock as a gay bodyguard kills it.

Arnie K (es) wrote: This film has all the makings of a melodrama and yet it's not. Engaged man paralyzed in an accident. Car that hit him driven by the wife of a doctor. Engaged woman still loves him but he is bitter. The doctor falls in love with the engaged woman... A really well-done movie.

Andrew R (fr) wrote: I like the Louise Kaplan book a lot -- but that's a series of clinical discussions and theoretical explanation, so not sure how it's fictionalized in this film. I like Swinton a lot, and I've heard it's good.

Augustine H (us) wrote: The story itself could be described as 'dull', but Vangelis' score is classic!

Adam R (jp) wrote: Not the typical Farrelly Brothers comedy, but a unique sports romance film. Enjoyable for baseball fans even if the Red Sox aren't your team. It's sweet! (First viewing - Late teen years)

Michael B (ca) wrote: I'm not sure why I had never heard of this film before. Thanks to Netflix for recommending it to me. I really enjoyed it. Devil in a Blue Dress stars Denzel Washington as "Easy" Rawlins, a hard working man trying to achieve the American dream in the 40's. Easy is asked to track down a missing woman and soon finds himself tangled in a murder mystery. Devil in a Blue Dress plays out like a noir film. It's equipped with a voice over by Washington as well as dames with long legs (Jennifer Beals.) Denzel gives his normal amazing performance, but he's overshadowed by Don Cheadle, who plays Easy's homicidal homie. Cheadle is so volatile you feel like he can explode at any moment. There are some strong themes of race and what it was like living as a black person in a post-war America. If you're a fan of some of the actors in the film or a fan of the genre, I would highly recommend Devil in a Blue Dress.

Hayden L (ca) wrote: A schlocky little horror film that is startlingly reminiscent of films by Roger Corman. True it is undeniably corny, but there are some great laughs as well as shocks to be found here.
