Nived N (kr) wrote: After delivering two super-blockbusters ''HUM TUM'' & ''FANAA'', Kunal Kapoor presented his next offering ''Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic''. There's nothing novelty in the story, sharing resemblance with '' Mary Poppins'' and ''Sounds of wave'', yet the movie had heart in it's right place. Very Simple story about four orphans whose relation with Ranbir Talwar (Saif Ali Khan) gets soured due to their parents death unintentionally committed by him, so to clear the misunderstanding between them and spread the blossom of love, God (Rishi Kapoor) sends his dutiful angel Geeta (Rani Mukherjee) to assign this job. As I said before, the plot is uncomplicated. It's not original as well yet the movie seldom drags. There are lapses like the laborious second half especially and the songs by SHANKAR-EHSAAN-LOY doesn't contribute any impact, barring ''Pyaar Key Liye'' other songs are lacklasture, the 20 minutes climax is a typical Yash-Raj ending however with fantasy look. If you put these flaws aside, TPTM is ultimately an engaging film. Special effects are impressive, the rainbow bridge through which Rani rides her bicycle down the earth, the heaven, magic tricks etc, These are not new to anyone but it's surely new for Bollywood. The movie completely belongs to kids, Their endearing performance touches ur heart the moment they come onscreen, it's very difficult for me to choose who is better than whom. Even If I have to choose than it's the Sardar Boy Iqbal played RACHIT SADANA, He is so adorable and lovable. RANI MUKHERJEE is fantastic as the heart-of-gold angel Geeta, seeing her in different avatar especially from those tear-jeaker roles is a delight to watch. SAIF ALI KHAN doesn't have much scope in the expenditure where show-stealers like Rani and Kids are dominating. AMISHA PATEL hits a perfect note as Saif's bimbo girlfriend. Overall THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC is a feel-good entertainment flick. Watch it for the kids and surprise package Rani Mukherjee!!!!!

Adam S (au) wrote: "Shine" is a powerhouse Australian drama that shines a light on the unfortunate life of David Helfgott, played by Geoffrey Rush in an Oscar winning turn. The script itself isn't particularly sound, and the film relies heavily on the on-screen talent, including Rush, Noah Taylor, Armin Mueller-Stahl and John Gieguld. While Rush is undeniably excellent in his role, it's the scene's between a teenaged Helfgott (Taylor) and his over-bearing father (Mueller-Stahl) that makes this film work on an emotional level. Well, that and the way that the film makes the average punter care about Romantic piano music.A solid biopic.

Stephen E (kr) wrote: "Sea of Love" is a slow-moving cop-thriller with Al Pacino playing his usual self. While nothing out of the ordinary, there are still some aspects about "Sea of Love" that are admirable, such as the stylish direction by Harold Becker and the wonderful supporting cast comprised of key players like John Goodman, Richard Jenkins, and Samuel L. Jackson (in a brief cameo). What's strange about "Sea of Love" is that it doesn't focus so much on thrills as it does on the relationship between the Pacino character and the Ellen Barkin. Most of our time is spent watching them grow closer and the apart. Now, this may make the film feel a bit aimless at times, but nonetheless, "Sea of Love" entertains.

Mr B (ru) wrote: William Hurt gives an excellent performance and Raul Julia does the same. I really loved the parallels between Molina's story of the movie he was telling to Valentin and the complex nature of the plot reminds me so much of The Crying Game in some ways.

Levi P (br) wrote: The story was a little loose, but it's all in the presentation. It's extremely stylized with vibrant colors, which hold significant meanings and the editing is truly unique. I can only describe it as gestalt editing. In a scene, the cuts leave gaps in the timeline. While the cuts usually pick up just moments before the last, it still leaves the viewer to fill in what happened.

Regina M (ca) wrote: There would have been a time when I would have found this corny and predictable but the message in Jack Lemmon's town hall speech could not be more timely - and simple and true. In a time where every news story relates another big business coup against heartland America, 'It Happened to Jane' gives us a bit of hope that maybe David could still beat Goliath. The goliaths of the world have power, media, secrecy and government controlled to a science, it seems impossible to stand up for the principles that once motivated this country. Indeed with the sly introduction of genetically-engineered crops, out-sourced jobs, hormone-enriched meat and fish, remotely manipulated bank loans and role models presented not for their values but for their ability to attract the largest, lowest common denominator, the average American has a tough time discerning quality from what should be a simple process. 'It Happened to Jane' may simplify things a bit, but it recognizes the machinery that can thwart an honest person who does not try to second guess everyone else. That person is Jack Lemmon's character, George Denhan, not Doris Day's Jane. He is the unglamorous good guy who misses his chance with the girl, not through not noticing her but by not appearing as the rugged take-what-I want he-man. He is the honest, reliable, very intelligent, creative man who lives in the present, volunteering for good causes and ignoring the cheap lure of instant celebrity. He is the one who, when all seems lost, chooses not to give in and follow the easiest expedient in the moment, but stands true to his ideals, a quality that allows him to find a solution when facing the impossible. He has the courage of his convictions.Day and Lemmon have an interesting chemistry on-screen. There is a spark but it is closer to real life where true love can still exist even burdened by everyday obligations, children and differences of opinion. While not perfect, 'It Happened to Jane' is well worth a viewing.
