Salma Zidane, a widow, lives simply from her grove of lemon trees in the West Bank's occupied territory. The Israeli defense minister and his wife move next door; the Secret Service orders the trees removed for security. The stoic Salma seeks assistance from the Palestinian Authority (useless), Israeli army (dismissive), and a young attorney, Ziad Daud, who takes the case; this older client attracts him. While the courts deliberate, the Israelis fence her trees and prohibit her from entering the grove. As the trees wither, the defense minister's wife and, separately, an Israeli journalist, look on Salma with sympathy. In this allegory, does David stand a chance against Goliath?

Joe H (fr) wrote: A sinister allegory about the way in which humans allow themselves to be seduced by devils and let evil creep into their hearts, minds, and dreams until they are no more than puppets on an unholy string. Surreal and oppressive, the film's bleak narrative unwinds like a puzzle before cascading violently to its nefarious climax and utterly fatalistic conclusion. But isn't that fitting? Doesn't the story of Faustus too remind us that there is no hope once already in the clutches of Hell?

Tania B (it) wrote: Oh... Oh my... I... I just... I'm astonished! I never thought it would be possible for anyone to make a movie as bad as this one. This... This isn't even crap. Calling it a crappy movie would be a terrible insult to genuine crappy movies around the world. It's amazing how I can't find one single positive aspect about it. Everything's awful! The acting, the direction, the screenplay, the plot, the special fx (sorry! I meant to say terrible fx), the image,... Every single thing about it is... is... it's just... I don't really think I will ever be able to find a suitable adjective to describe it. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure the absence of rating says it all.

Of course, Mickey Rourke plays the character he always plays and Keira Knightly is extremely hot, so I recommend this.

It's a love story, comedy and political satire all set in the racially charged late 50s. Well worth watching once, and can see myself coming back to it again. Newman is fantastic as Earl Long.

Brandon W (de) wrote: Textbook Filmmaking and the perfect James Bond film. Not only is the action and suspense absolutely spectacular but it really explores the beginnings of James Bond as a double O agent. Daniel Craig is my favourite bond. I know it's a cliche choice but he really has the perfect balance of manliness and smoothness. Mads Mikkelsen plays a great villain and Eva Green plays one of the best Bond girls ever. She is smart, sophisticated and probably the most complex bond girl since Diana Rigg in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. "You Know My Name - Chris Cornell" is also one of the best bond songs. It has that perfect mix of classic bond flare with a new alternative sound grounded in the 21st Century. Casino Royale is not just one of the best Bond films, it's one of the best action films ever made!
