(it) wrote: The comparisons to Napoleon Dynamite are obvious. I love both films. This though is more a re-evaluation of the rom-com than N.D. and does so brilliantly in a now iconic low key Jewish Mauri Kiwi Wellingtonian style. Losing never felt so good. As one particularly adorable character observes, when abrasively told she never complains about anything: " Well, some people don't even have sleeping bags."

(fr) wrote: Not always super compelling, yet I liked the fact that the film just laid out the sad facts of Nico's life and did sugar coat or embellish her as some sort of super elite artist. She was a troubled, creative woman whose demons got the better of her. A cautionary tale for all.

It's so unique a cinematic experience, knowing what we know of Schwarzenegger's life and career the 34 years since, seeing him at this juncture, as he's just starting out. (No, I haven't seen 'Stay Hungry' yet.)Part of me always wishes he had simply stuck to these films (as well as the 'Terminator' series), and was still making them. In his prime, I dare you to find anyone better at this kind of material.
