Yet the character evolves and you find yourself rooting for him to overcome his attraction to young girls. The subject of molestation is treated in a sensitive manner.. The acting is superb between Stuart Whitman , Rod Steiger (a good guy for once) and Maria Schell whose bright eyes symbolize hope for this tortured soul. This is a tremendously under-rated movie- yet a well-loved movie supported by positive audience response.

Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley bounce off each other as the braindead actor and brains behind the operation and it's great to watch their pratfalls and listen to their sniping. The premise is pretty simple but the movie gets great mileage out of it. similar to the Naked Gun with British accents, period costumes and much less sex and violence.
Harry W (gb) wrote: I'm not a fan of romantic comedies, particular ones where the title is a casual phrase like "What's your number?" or "He's just not that into you", but as the case has been with The Scarlet Letter, We're No Angels, Striptease and G.I. Jane, I can sit through any film all the way through if it gives me a glimpse of Demi Moore nude in one way or anotherAbout Last Night... proved mostly to be the generic romantic comedy that I had predicted. It wasn't funny, and it just relied on a lot of "Did you ever notice" gags in its dialogue and within the relationship between its two protagonists. But the thing is that yes, I did notice all that in many life experiences and other films, so why an entire film dedicates itself to pointing them out is ambiguous to me. About Last Night... felt like an extended episode of a romantic comedy sitcom, and not a good one.It became very generic very fast, and if not for Jim Belushi's performance I wouldn't understand a single reason that people would find this film to be funny, and even the dramatic aspects of the film are too melodramatic. So the drama and the comedy isn't effective most of the time.To make it worse, the story is too predictable. The relationship between the two protagonists feels real thanks to strong chemistry and talented performances, but their relationship is packed with the tedious drama that every real relationship is faced with which anyone who has been in one will know. Anyone who has been in a relationship will also know that things like that are very tedious and annoying to deal with, so to have to watch them on film is no more entertaining than having to experience them yourself. About Last Night... is nothing but a generic love story. And while it has plenty of realism, one thing it does not have plenty of is entertainment. I don't know if the film was funny back in the day it was released, but by today's standards it is dated, unoriginal and just plain boring. I can honestly say that anybody who is not a fan of romantic comedies will not be a fan of About Last Night..., so its better to look elsewhere.I really don't have much to say. I didn't hate About Last Night..., but I didn't enjoy it. It was dull, boring, unfunny and weak. It was everything I don't want in a romantic comedy, and it wasn't even sexy enough. There is no denying that Demi Moore's young and untouched figure was worth the viewing and that she is at some of her sexiest from before her step into Striptease, but that wasn't enough to constitute entertainment value for a boring 113 minute long romantic comedy. But About Last Night... does feature one of Demi Moore's way better performances because as well as being very sexy she is undeniably dead on in her line delivery and the emotions her character faces. Instead of being over the top or melodramatic, she is just right, and she makes a real sweet and friendly presence who is really easy to feel sympathetic for.And Rob Lowe makes a great transitioned to a more mature themed role after being a teen star who won a Golden Raspberry award for his previous collaboration with Demi Moore in St. Elmo's Fire. In About Last Night..., he is very realistic and feels like a truly humane character, and it is easy to appreciate is efforts. And the chemistry of the lead actors feels like it has genuine love to it as well as the usual complicated dynamics that a relationship faces in the real world, so some elements of About Last Night... prove successful on the basis that it has a certain element of truth to it.But still, About Last Night... builds too much of the limitation it has in its story of being all based on one relationship. The actors arte good, the creativity, originality and comedy is not. And if you're a fan of generic romantic stories I can guarantee that this is your kind of film, but people looking for a little more will find a lot less.
