Carrie M (nl) wrote: This movie feels like a compilation teaser for various Cirque shows on the strip. If you have never seen a show, it's a nice introduction, if you're down with the absolute lack of coherence (that isn't incoherent enough to fully slip into surreal territory) and the disjointed nature of the piece. If you have seen Cirque shows, give it a pass as it lacks the energy of the live shows that really brings you in.overall though, I think you'd be better off finding a DVD of a single show and watching that instead, so you really get a better sense of the cirque experience.Just a note for parents with kiddos: there are background images that may frighten smaller children and though not topless, the Zumanity act is rather sensual, so keep that in mind.

Ree S (nl) wrote: Most movies have a category that they try to fill. Action movies tend to have action. Dramatic movies have drama. Comedic movies have a tendency to be funny. 2001: A Space Travesty goes beyond that category. It is a comedy that is not funny. That is not saying that it doesn't try to be funny. It has slapstick. It has humorous situations. It is crude, does parody, and it even has musical numbers. A comedy, by definition takes the hero from a low position and brings them to a higher position. You would definitely have to be high to enjoy this movie. It is crude, rude, and lacks any subtlety. There are moments of enjoyment where they do have a good attempt at a joke, however, by the end of the movie, all you can say is, they tried hard. It just didn't do anything for me.

There are moments that capture us, accompanied by others that just don't gel like they should. Overall, it's a decent effort marred by some overreaching.

Farron K (ru) wrote: Decent enough. Kind of the R-rated version of Footloose with lots of relationship drama. The soundtrack was much worse though, aside from the title track. I did like how they drew a line between being a dancer in a club and being a strip club dancer (it was also nice that the strip club music was completely terrible). The ending was nice, but came pretty abruptly and without closing a few loose ends. Overall, worth a watch for the ladies who like dancing, but not that great otherwise.
