Matt B (mx) wrote: Jude Law is very good, but he couldn't save the movie for me. Dom Hemingway's story is just too thin and the dark humor too unapproachable to enjoy.

Bruno V (au) wrote: Just liked the beginning very much , but when Dr. Octavius comes in the funlevel drops and it get's less fun .

Private U (gb) wrote: What a shame. The book is wonderful, and the cast looks great on paper, but this is where it all falls through. The actors do their best to battle on through a badly written script, but the adaption to screen just hasn't been done well enough - the acting comes across as painfully wooden.

Alexandra W (au) wrote: I wish I knew more about South American history so I could comment on the geopolitical situation, but alas, all I can comment on are all of these ridiculous actors who appear together in this sweeping, attention-holding, magical-realism epic. Meryl Streep and Glenn Close, together at last! Why aren't they in every movie together? What if Meryl were on Damages?!?!?!?!?! In other news, I was really fascinated by Jeremy Irons's villainy. I would've liked to have known what his life was like before he married Meryl--so I could know why he hated his sister Glenn Close so much and why he was such a jerk. But, whatever. Also, what is the moral of this movie? Life is important, and hopefully your daddy's rich so you don't have to stay and fight for your country's freedom? Um... not sure I agree with that at all. And Winona Ryder. Grace and I were calling her Why?Nona because she's such a distracting presence. What is she up to being a movie star? Why isn't she just someone who works at a bank, whom I know through a friend of a friend? That seems a much more plausible occupation for her.

Scott M (de) wrote: Movie about a group of young friends (or maybe thugs?) who like having a good time together. Takes the gangster movies from the golden age and kicks it up a notch. More violence, language, and sex. But Scorsese adds religion too making it even more realistic. One of the best ever.

Arnaud L (es) wrote: Amazing landscapes, beautiful direction by John Ford and an interesting message. It lacks a bit of focus though.

Anthony B (es) wrote: Despite some hilariously hokey acting, this suspenseful tragedy manages to make you care for the characters at its center.

Justin R (gb) wrote: The spider that scares me the most as a rapidly growing atomic age monster that feeds on cattle as well as people. Creepy crawly, creepy crawly! A chilling sci-fi horror classic. Featuring a young Clint Eastwood and the main cast I haven't even heard of
