Mike S (de) wrote: Very light film which is easy enough to sit through, and despite some poorly written characters and moments within the script, the film is lifted by the performances of Amy Adams and Clint Eastwood. Timberlake, whilst an adequate actor who tries hard in the role, feels miscast against the high quality of Adams and Eastwood.
Larry J (de) wrote: When will the definitive Disco/Glitter Era film be made? What is the problem with all these directors and producers who strip the Studio 54 era of it's true debt to gay culture? The disco era, which for the straight audience, is best portrayed in Saturday Night Fever, has yet to be properly dramatized in a mainstream film. It is as if the entire urban populace of THE WORLD is ashamed or wants to deny or forget their participation in the metrosexuality of the mid 70s to 80s. Any film which tries to capture the era without acknowledging its gay roots and influence can not possibly be successful. Between the possible oversight by P.T. Anderson on "Boogie Nights" and what studio hacks dictated in "54", "Funkytown" is a very weak attempt. By 2011, when this film was released, there is no excuse for the sexual neutering or tameness Funkytown provides. The marketing was so deceptive - there must have been a huge outcry- because the cover to the DVD I bought featured Justin Chatwin. Chatwin had a disappointingly small role. Daniel Roby really missed the mark in this production. I can't imagine spending any additional money on anything Roby is involved in. When thinking about Funkytown, I hope you will save your time and money.
Sebastian T (us) wrote: This high budget Korean sci-fi action movie is always associated with Blade Runner, and rightfully so. It's almost a remake, so it loses points in the originality department. The hero is also a total a-hole, so it's hard to root for him as the film progresses. But where it lacks on the intangibles, the visuals, the production, the action sequences...superb! I liked the pacing, too, which although is the norm in Korea (apparently), was a little different and refreshing for an American viewer like myself. I recommend this one mostly for the futuristic sci-fi goers.

Sophie (au) wrote: This was actually disgusting, found it very difficult to watch. The acting was pretty good, but I wouldn't advise anyone to watch this film.
Kathleen R (ru) wrote: It opened with a promise of a weak pretentious American rom-com plot-line and took a turn to what feels like a Tagalog action movie in the 90's (which is not a complement, mind you) and totally got lost in the deep forests of Hawaii.
