WS W (ag) wrote: I found it somehow so deja vu Hollywood style in a way, might not be an impressive one, but for sure is one good, entertaining one to watch.

Mark N (mx) wrote: Extremely disappointing attempt to recreate the charm of the z-grade 50's monster flick. The familiar plot and characters all feel awkward in a passionless attempt to walk through the tropes of the genre that are remarkably dull and laugh free.

Talia S (fr) wrote: Madonna, having come to terms with the fact that she cannot act ? Guy Ritchie?s A la drive in which she starred was a cinematic disaster - has decided to get behind the camera. As director, producer and co-writer of Filth and Wisdom, she has set out on a filmmaking career and hopes to follow in the footsteps of Fellini and Visconti. Blonde ambition? or blind ambition? AK (Eugene Hutz, the Ukranian-born frontman of the gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello) lives in London and dreams of living off his music, but in the meantime, he provides S&M services to seemingly ordinary businessmen. His two roommates also look up to the stars: Juliette (Vicky McClure), a pole-dancer, dreams of becoming a ballet dancer, while Holly (Holly Weston), a pharmacy assistant, wants to play Bono and save African children. The two female leads resemble her, as does AK in many ways. It?s basically a film about me, myself and I. Madonna does not appear in the film, but she is omnipresent, whether behind the camera or in the characters. Although Filth and Wisdom is not entirely unpromising, it is a rather shapeless effort with a weak screenplay that is neither filthy nor wise. Hey, Madonna, here?s a wise suggestion: stick to your day job.

Dana A (kr) wrote: It's these types of movies that further perpetuate the negative African American stereotypes and quite frankly deserve to never see the light of day. Belonging to the "ghetto" category this film will most likely appeal to those of the "ghetto" mindset. Basically another Meet the Parents version we watch as the main character meets his would-be wife's parents, neighbors and friends. Chaos, horrendous/low-class dialogue and every stereotype imaginable soon ensues. From plastic furniture to gangs to fried chicken to gun battles this film lacks charm, class, continuously rambles as it shamefully protrays its characters in the most demeaning way. Definately not the hilarious Friday or shockingly enjoyable Next Day Air, this movie lacks story, heart or even class.

Soma S (br) wrote: Most unintresting investigation I have ever seen.

Tamara H (ag) wrote: So uncomfortable and disturbing to watch scenes of incest, and threesomes (mother, son & bi-male prostitute/escort). Julianne Moore's performance was good, but she seems to always go for these crazy/out-of-the-box characters (Magnolia; The Kids Are Alright; etc)... I just wanted it to end. The storyline was pretty crap.

Justin T (it) wrote: This movie a phenomenal road trip film. The characters are so void of emotion yet I found them to be so full of life. Love!

Andy P (gb) wrote: It was funny, and Dane Cook made for an appealing lead. I liked that it focused on his pursuit of the Employee of the Month and less on the pursuit of the girl. And Dax Sheppard was terrific as the resident douche almost anyone who has worked in retail know someone like that.

Ira K (jp) wrote: This is all about persistence - and love and friendship. Empathic illustration of Finnish mentality. Perfectly timed pithy words make it SO apt... Second part of the trilogy, Mies vailla menneisyytta, is also worth seeing.

Scott C (mx) wrote: I remember this movie getting an absurd amount of attention back in the day. It was very good, but perhaps disappointed some people because it was so overrated.

Steven G (us) wrote: Hilarious at times, especially during the first 20 minutes or so, but Murphy's dislike of women keeps the special from being as good as it could have been.

Private U (es) wrote: The film that created the 'hopping vampires' subgenre of HK film.

Millo T (ag) wrote: Between 2.5 and 3. It is not at the level of the original novel it is based on.

Ingrid G (gb) wrote: Buster Keaton is so hilarious, he upstaged everyone else in my mind. Plus, the story is over done and predictable, and therefore not very interesting to watch.

Collin P (us) wrote: An entertaining movie but it isn't as creepy as it wants to be and the ending is a bit ridiculous.

John Eric D (ag) wrote: Now first of all, I have to say this is more of a "call of duty like" in terms of presentation (if you are a video game fan you know what I mean). I thought the first half was as generic as it could get though I'm a bit surprised bout the whole army action thing presentation. It really gets me up, especially when the action heats up. I thought the pacing was very well made. I never get bored when these actors know what they are doing (even as a terrorist or a soldier). With all the hype and criticism that this film gets, it is a well made action flick that reminds us how these spec ops are a big part of our nation. A good flick with no alcohol required.

Jorban J (gb) wrote: I expected more. It was great seeing Bogart and Robinson together, but the whole thing just felt a bit underwhelming.
