Machuca

Santiago, capital of Chile during the Marxist government of elected, highly controversial president Salvador Allende. Father McEnroe supports his leftist views by introducing a program at the prestigious "collegio" (Catholic prep school) St. Patrick to allow free admission of some proletarian kids. One of them is Pedro Machuca, slum-raised son of the cleaning lady in Gonzalo Infante's liberal-bourgeois home. Yet the new classmates become buddies, paradoxically protesting together as Gonzalo gets adopted by Pedro's slum family and gang. But the adults spoil that too, not in the least when general Pinochet's coup ousts Allende, and supporters such as McEnroe.

Two boys observe a political coup in their native Chile. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Scott W (kr) wrote: The baseball scenes are good, when the movie is just about scouts trying to decide if this hotshot player is worth a #1 pick. The problem is there is too much other stuff in the movie that doesn't work. Number one on that list: the romance. Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake have almost no chemistry and the movie sidetracks for long stretches to advance the romantic plot. Everything ties up a little too neatly at the end. This movie has potential but takes too many wrong turns for me to recommend.

Pam K (nl) wrote: One bloody scene after another, I didn't know killing could be so boring. Wish I missed this one

Debanjan C (ru) wrote: Good locations and a good starcast doesn't always make a good movie. This is a perfect example. What could have been a great movie is pretty much a damp squid. Highly disappointing!

Metal X (fr) wrote: No new ground covered here. But there are a few laughs to be had with Harland and Greg Pitts on the scene.

Tika G (ca) wrote: Hmm this movie was great, Amitabh looks odd with makeup and abishek is as usual so cute - however didn't he get angus when ash kissed hrithik on dhoom 2, so what was he doing here?

Taneela I (fr) wrote: i love this movie.. specially the acting of Arjun Rampal.. it was hillarious...

Jill H (au) wrote: "In My Country" is a strong drama about the atrocities that were committed in South Africa under apartheid and the amazing will of the South African people to forgive those who committed them. Not only is it moving and passionate, but the stories are true. An absolutely amazing movie about the power of forgiveness and love over hatred and revenge.

Jessica H (ru) wrote: Mushu is annoying as always and the story is more like mulan lite with nothing exciting, not even the predictability.

Wes S (it) wrote: Boring with horrible effects and a cheesy creature. The characters are awful and the plot drags along going no where. The ending was pretty bland and uninteresting. Just a cheap awful monster movie with little to offer.

Mary H (ru) wrote: The DVD Cover is shite. It's a smart brit-flick and gives new meaning to the word 'Saving'.

Anthony L (de) wrote: Most I've cried over a movie.

Mariana A (fr) wrote: An engrossing look into early 1980s NYC Lower East Side art/punk rock subculture. I'd watched this a few years ago, and even now, after I've moved out of NYC and become far less entrenched with any sort of counterculture, I found myself quite into it.

Christopher S (gb) wrote: Early genre film from Hammer is an intelligent science-fiction mystery in the mold of Nigel Kneale's Quatermass series. It has it's slow, talky moments, and the ending is pretty anti-climactic - but the intriguing scientific mystery of Jimmy Sangster's smart script and the effective atmosphere and production values - including some pretty good special effects and superb, crisp black and white cinematography - keep things moving. Great piercing score by James Bernard.
