JeanPaul F (ru) wrote: Very dull in between the actions sequences and sometimes it feels like it takes forever, but the action is worth waiting for.

Mary S (nl) wrote: Very creepy film that leaves you with an unsettled feeling for quite a while after watching. Would definitely view again.

Max B (nl) wrote: Works better than most films about sentiment and dischord. While the script reads like a Hallmark card, the performances are subtle enough to reign in the cheese. An effective look at divorce and death.

Tehe T (mx) wrote: It was enjoyable and Garry Oldman was pretty good in this movie adaption.

John Y (gb) wrote: This film seemed cooler when I was a kid.

Stuart K (it) wrote: love this film! always remember seeing this as a kid and still watch it regularly. great chemistry between the two leads and I wish they'd made more considering the amount of books this character has

Jason P (es) wrote: Beautiful, funny, nearly flawless. Lovely slice-of-life late-fifties Japanese film. One of those few films that speaks equally on the level of kids and adults. This is a very difficult thing to do.

Kyle V (fr) wrote: This film is a great prison drama, because it's one of the few prison films out at the time of it's original premiere that actually has an "anti-hero" who still garners the title of the anti-hero out of his stature in society alone. But, the real truth is, all of the men in R-17 are there because they did what they felt they had to do to protect themselves and the ones they love.Joe Collins, played by Burt Lancaster, is one of the cellmates whose tried to make multiple attempts for escape because of the way the prison is treating the inmates. This is where the viewer is introduced to Cpt. Munsey, who will be the films antagonist for the duration of the film. What makes Cpt. Munsey so villainous is his thirt for power. Cpt Munsey has the "little man complex", where when he is in a power of superiority over a large goup of men, it tickles his funny bone more than anything else.there's alot of references to Cpt. Munsey and world leaders like alexander. He sits on his throne and waits for the right time to strike. But what he doesnt know, is the more he locks down on the prisoner's priveleges, the more he turns the prison into a ticking time bomb, all orchestrated by Joe Collins, Cpt. Munsey's worst nightmare. The film has some great cinematic moments. The scene in which Cpt. Munsey beats a prisoner is extremely brutal. That's about the moment where everyone knows, there is NOTHING to like about this guy, and someone needs to teach this guy a lesson.Overall, I can't rate it any higher. The film lacks a feeling of realism, overall, even with two amazing characters for sure.Fun little thing to point out: if you ever watch this film, notice the sever lack of the African-American population from this prison. it's inhabited ONLY by white men. This is where I differ with director Jules Dassin and the rest of the crew.

Austin W (gb) wrote: open season is a pretty good entry into the animated cannon. theres lots of gags and jokes with good voice acting and a great cast of characters making this a good watch.

Niall E (gb) wrote: Not a patch on the first.

Bilith W (ca) wrote: This is a well acted quietly beautiful film. Peter Fonda does a great job as the emotionally closed grandfather who has taken in his jailed son's two daughters. The ups and downs of this dysfunctional family draws you in and makes you care about what will ultimately happen to this family

Brad S (mx) wrote: This one was just ok. Decent, but not great. The cast kept me watching, but I found the story weak. Certainly not one of Allen's best, but worth a watch for fans of his work.
