But halfway through the movie I was ready to just turn off the movie because of the way the movie was progressing. The movie does teach a good lesson though. You should appreciate what you have while you have it, because one day it could be gone. So be careful what you wish for.

It's a turtle changing house, for a smaller one, mind you. No blood, no murder suicide, just a change of house. Married people, I'm telling you...

Richard C (gb) wrote: Did you see this in Italian, English subbed? IMDb and Netflix say it's in Italian, but the version I got was exclusively English dubbed (Cinema deadly sin number one). Be wary of Netflix's lies. This film brought out my internalized horrorphobia. That's when a person who normally likes horror shows a group of cinephiles who like decent cinema a bad horror, and this person subsequently feels ashamed to have shown the horror movie. Beyond the Darkness is firstly inexcusably dubbed - and if it wasn't, the audio track (including some sound effects) was literal shit. Secondly, the plot is an unworthy shock attempt. Hitchcock's Psycho and Vertigo referencing forms the basics of it, with the taboos found therein amplified. The murder slant, the best thing the film offers, has a bizarre and random sense to it, and the murderer is an uncommon character in the psycho murderer position. I know this horror type is supposed to be presented flimsy and simple, but the film's purpose was foreign to me until I finally read the synopsis, so it was easy to become disconnected. I think what was missing was a little background on the main character before the film started where it did.Nevertheless, a tight score, and some fine carnage.
