Man of the House

Ben Archer is not happy. His mother, Sandy, has just met a man, and it looks like things are pretty serious. Driven by a fear of abandonment, Ben tries anything and everything to ruin the "love bubble" which surrounds his mom. However, after Ben and Jack's experiences in the Indian Guides, the two become much closer.

Caleb W (mx) wrote: Oh Teal'c, why would you do this to me? it was very disheartning to see Christohper Judge in this movie. Even if the plot and scripting were any good, the mismatched and very deliberate dubbing is madening! All the Java men and Florensinsies seem to be speaking english, yet they are horrible dubbed over. I'm still trying to rap my brain around the 4.5 stars it has on Netflix! The mediocrity isn't even funny, just annoying. -_-

Brandon Y (kr) wrote: A weak ending undermines an otherwise intriguing thriller. Bad title, incidentally, since the movie isn't about "sins" at all, and probably keeps people from looking further into what this movie is actually about.

Chris A (nl) wrote: Wow, I'm shocked Rotten tomatoes actually got something close to right. Although It should be at 90% rating I'll give this shitty critic site kudos for actually being close

Alec B (nl) wrote: It's David Wain's most "conventional" film to date, but the film is always just strange enough to keep it from ever looking too familiar. On top of being hilarious, the film even manages to be touching while not ever becoming too sentimental. Also, Jane Lynch's performance is absolutely perfect.

Steve S (jp) wrote: Average, not bad if you have nothing better to watch. Barely enough to keep you watching, the last 20 minutes I thought oh well might as well see it to the end.I really don't get why this 30 something gay guy needs an imaginary friend and why is it in the movie, it does nothing to enhance the story...

Adam W (au) wrote: Lawrence steps into his "Im a black man y'all" shoes, dropped into medieval England, where he disgraces himself with the big i am routine, hamming up every scene in cringworthy fashion. He never forgets to mention hes "from the hood" or a black man playing on every shitty stereotype available in a disgusting film. This probably does more to further racial tensions than mein Kampf.

Jonathan S (fr) wrote: John Candy's lost classic. Pretty much plays like a 90-minute SCTV skit.

Alex S (ru) wrote: Robert Altman's 3 Women smoothly integrates many different genres to make for a riveting psychological study as well as an experience much different from the rest of Altman's canon.

Nicole T (de) wrote: Not a terrible movie, just not a great sequel to something as amazing as Rocky Horror. 3 stars

Anastasia B (au) wrote: You gotta love those classics! "They live by night"is yet another reason why you should. Even though it might get a bit melodramatic at moments for my own standards, by any other standards it's one of the movies that defined film-noir, future-to-come road movies and that always desired but never realised "escape to Mexico". Nicholas Ray does a robust job directing it, O'Donnel and Granger work out swell as a couple and there you have it, a film that any romantic oughts to see.

Ken S (gb) wrote: Kevin Smith's original closer to his Askewniverse was this mixed film. The idea that the two guys from the background are finally the stars, and the running gag that the whole idea of doing that is a terrible idea are good in concept, but the movie often strays into ridiculous territory, you don't want to really watch a movie that focuses on Jay...he belongs in the background. But there is plenty to like if your a fan of the Askewniverse, if not a fan then look elsewhere (unless you are just some stoner geek then you might like this). I found just enough in-jokes to keep me along for the ride...but only just enough.

Tommie G (es) wrote: Spike Lee's abstract delivery of this necessary message was interesting but I felt like I was watching a stage play at most times. Nick Cannon is cool but they should have cast someone who is actually from Chicago, perhaps Chief Keef? Jennifer Hudson gave the film it's dramatic edge, a performance perhaps drawn from personal experience, but the film turned into a comedy whenever Spike attempts to illustrate a world where women could actually hold out. (*Spoiler Alert*: Dave Chappell cameo!)
