Alexander L (ag) wrote: The IdenticalOn youtube there is a video that takes gibberish and puts it together to sound like an English rock song. Supposedly this is what it sounds like to speak English to an Italian who doesn't know it. It's known as "Prisencolinensinainciusol." It says nothing, is entirely nonsensical, and barely sounds good, but is somehow intriguing. All this to say that THE IDENTICAL IS DUMB. When making a movie that is CLEARLY meant to be the life of Elvis... guys if you can't get Elvis's name or music or anything related to him, just scrap your freaking movie. There's nothing to tell. There's nothing to see. The Identical is a bizarre story relating to twin brothers who are separated at birth (with the parents faking the death of one of the siblings because THAT MAKES SENSE INSTEAD OF CLOSED ADOPTION) and one of them grows up to be the greatest rock star of all time: Failvis. I mean Drexel Hemsley. What an inspirational story to tell. Too bad the movie is actually about his twin brother who was raised to believe that Rock N Roll is the Devil Music and his daddy is wanting him to grow up a preacher just like him. THAT'S the story we get. And it's a dumb terrible pathetic story with nothing to see. It's not even amusingly bad. It's just... completely lacking. At least Failvis sounds good. Too bad the lyrics are terrible. 1/10

Fran P (nl) wrote: I love comedies that stick close to real life--source of hilarities that can happen to me any day. This film is just like that. There's no fancy, trying-too-hard feel to it. Instead of solving all of the characters' problems in a span of an hour and forty minutes, it surpassed all of those problems so that it could be solved later on when the camera isn't running any longer. Although most people may see that as an imperfection, I see it as a nice touch. After all, the picture is called "Dan in Real Life" not "Dan in Dreamland." I very much enjoyed Steve Carell's performance here. He proved to me that he's not a one-time comedy sketch. There are a lot of moments where I felt what he had felt and I think that's hard to do considering I'm not exactly the kind of filmgoer that easily feels for the character. This is a one smart, down-to-earth, original comedy.

A prime example of how historical fiction can be done perfectly with powerful drama and lavish sets. The sheer scale of this movie is something to behold. Never has historical fiction ever been such a spectacle to behold. Never has it been such an art form.

Farah R (ca) wrote: The Other Side of The Door is like all the best horror movies up to date. It's not only focused on jump scares and eerie sound effects, it's anchored in a relatable story with a deeper moral. I very much enjoyed the experience of watching this movie and that's highly accredited to the performances.
