Matthew C (ru) wrote: Two stars for the two stars, Chevy and Goldie. Grodin is good too but aside from these and some hilarity from a very witty and interesting premise, this movie doesn't offer much. I don't like to criticize Goldie and Chevy or Neil Simon for that matter, so I'll simply say that the movie is good for a laugh, which is why it was made, and then that's it, nothing more. Fun to watch these comedians at work.

Whit w (mx) wrote: This is an enjoyable follow-up to the original "Gojira". The Japanese version of this film is superior to the hacked up American version. In this movie, Godzilla battles Angilas and the battles are actually lengthy and engaging. I was impressed by the fight sequences even though they do look a little funny during the times that they are sped up. The Godzilla suit is a little scary, especially early in the film when it is reminiscent of the original "Gojira". Angilas is not nearly as successful of a creation. Close-ups of the beast's head are entirely unconvincing. There are the usual guffaws like jet planes clearly supported by strings and some of the miniature buildings lift slightly without damage when inadvertently bumped by a monster, but these are things that make these movies so endearing and fun. The conclusion is inventive but gets repetitious and drags on too long. The Toho Master Collection DVD contains a very interesting extra that covers history of the actors who played Godzilla (and other famous Toho monsters).

Samuel B (de) wrote: This was okay, for a 50s flick, but the comedy was a little bit off and not as funny as most Bob Hope movies I've seen. Cool sets and makes me want to go to the tropics or something though.

Anthony L (au) wrote: What a strange and varied portfolio of films Martin Campbell has under his belt. I've not always been a fan but good news is, I thought Edge of Darkness was great! Interesting to see him revisiting and remaking his 80's BBC miniseries into a film, a great move (although Green Lantern was an odd follow up decision). Mel Gibson is brilliant in the lead role and Ray Winstone is great in his supporting role. The beginning of the film totally took me by surprise and I was thrilled throughout - I think this film is somewhat overlooked, it is way above average for it's genres, especially of late.

Jules H (br) wrote: It's script may be fragmented and contrived and it's dialogue may be juvenile, but HTTM provides enough raw laughter, excitement in writing and genuine emotion to draw attention.

Nick C (ru) wrote: Really enjoyed this, Rollins plays the character brilliantly, in some ways it seems tailored to his particular style, he will tell you he wings the acting lark but he's brilliant in this. Decent Horror/Comedy with lots of depth.
