It's mildly entertaining and serves as ample in certain moments as a black comedy. Still, for most this is too bizarre of a mismatch and it does tend to zig-zag around story wise. You can't deny that it seems pretty intriguing though, at least worth a watch.

Nick B (au) wrote: This movie was tailor made for me... two strangers meet and talk and the plot thickens rapidly... a very interesting visual style as well - the screen is always divided down the middle so there are always two distinct scenes on the screen - usually a camera on each person or on the present while a flashback or an image of what they are trying to convey is showing.... two strong performances by Aaron Eckhart and Helena Bonham Carter.... drama, comedy, romance and Helena Bonham Carter at her most shagtastic.....

Ultiamtely, not a very good film, but somewhat entertaining in its awfulness. A terrible looking film filled with terrible acting, but still kind of fan for fans of crappy horror films.

Ruth R (nl) wrote: I thought it was quite good. Love the actors all of them and its an all too true account of how young women throw themselves at young men in their insecurity..very tough to watch because the character Uma plays is reminiscent of many vulnerable women without a firm psychological foundation in this day and age due to many reasons, socio-economic, lack of education etc..Good to see the odd movie from a woman's perspective, rather than the usual male view.

He was surrounded by a lot of caring people who knew he was a genius but didn't want to buy his art. The film cares too, while similarly doesn't understand or buy into his output. A work of genius in itself. Sublime to the senses. I foregoed (?) my trip to the cinema for this and wasn't disappointed. Not for one second. It's living inside of me and is most welcome. Now I have to see all of Pialat's output...

Phil H (fr) wrote: A strange film that has no real point to it, just one guy being pissed with everything around him. Its not hilarious by any means but it is amusing in places, the waitress piss take, the fly impersonation and the phone conversation with an automated call machine :) Carrey is in it but not until the end and even then its kinda lame, you can see 'Ace Ventura' coming. Its basically an Oederkerk vehicle but the problem is he isn't THAT funny, still...not bad though.
