Bathhouse prostitute Masako and her street-whore friend Jun are pawn for their Yakuza Pimps. These girls have lost control over their own existence, passed from one client to the next… “Unlike the vast numbers of prostitute films, this one is devoid of all the banal trappings usually associated with the genre. In this world, there are no fantasies about love, soul-mates or „gentle density“. Just stark, matter-of-fact sex – disturbingly detached, but strikingly authentic.” . Lenny R (it) wrote: I like much of Stuart Beattie's other work, but this...not so much. It makes that other big Kevin Grevioux story, Underworld, which I found a bit stupid, overly serious and narratively murky, seem coherent, intelligent and hilarious. It's stylish enough, but the story is ridiculous, and much of the dialogue is clearly meant to sound all epic and grandiose, but is complete nonsense. I like most of the actors, but they don't have much to work with. Still, it's nice to see so many Aussies getting work. Strahovski! Young! Bell! Spence! Courtney! Otto! Er, another Otto! Stasey! Those other guys from Tomorrow When the War Began! It's just a shame they have to embarrass themselves so much. Bill Nighy's fine, but that's like saying water's wet. Ecko's OK, but the character's not exactly a challenge.

Mikael H (au) wrote: Good movie, I especially like the dialogue even though I have to settle with the translated version.

Jacqueline A (us) wrote: This movie is awesome because it shows the misunderstandings females go through at some point in their lives where we think that to get what we want we need to become a lustful seductress. It's entertaining, provocative, and has a great message. The directing, however, isn't the best, though. These are intelligent actors and the director obscured their talent. There's an overall feel of awkwardness during the film that makes it not feel believable.

Adrian B (us) wrote: Confusing, yet interesting and perplexing at times, "The Dead" is one of John Huston's more unusual films. The movie is taken place in Ireland and involves the gathering of a family in mid-sized farm house, which includes characters played by Angelica Huston, Don McCann, Dan O'Herlily, and Patrick Gallagher, among others. I am little unsure what was going on many of the times, but the movie seemed like a mourning process for several relatives who have passed and the recollections of them through several stories told by the various characters. The script is actually rather good, mostly in poetic form, along with the filmmaking, which establishes a sort of haunting, foggy atmosphere. Again, I wasn't sure what was going on, but it is worth the watch, especially since it is famed director Huston's final film.

The attacks on his psyche begins to to take its toll and he finds himself falling into a mental breakdown. This is a fantastic film, full of nightmarish imagery. Some films have beautiful and nice looking imagery, and this movie has the exact opposite. There are close ups with nice shadow, hallucinations, and all sorts of visual aids to show Johnny's descent into madness.Constance Towers backs him up as his doting wife, but also has a few issues of her own. She has to pretend to be his sister and that he is in love with her, and is also a burlesque dancer who makes a few mistakes when it comes to his treatment at the facility.Taking its time with the plot and slowly building up to its climax, Shock Corridor is a scary film even though its not a horror movie and it stretches its genre conventions for some excellent imagery and thrills.

Connor B (au) wrote: A pretty weird film in a lot of areas, but that doesn't keep it from being a fun, involving, and nuanced sci-fi film that is one of Arnie's best films and one of the best sci-fi films ever. Period.
