If you just want a movie that has nudity in it then watch but terrible movie would not recommend anybody to waste your time seeing this. What a waste of time.
(mx) wrote: Well made, epic chick-flick. I can't recommend it to men's men but if you hang in there your woman will appreciate it. Also there's a lingering full-frontal nude shot of actress Karina Smulders. Not bad. Not bad at all! (almost said "Smulder smoulders!" But no. That's not her persona at all.) Gives you something to look forward to, as that scene occurs over 3/4ths of the way through this long slog.

So it seems like it has the slickest production values and is put together especially well. And knowing the extreme media attention, seems he keeps the manipulation of truth/timelines at the minimum, to avoid getting attacked for it later. The scene that stays with me the most after all these years contains the line, "Is this really how we treat those in need? I thought we as a society were better than this". I can always re-watch the Awful Truth (tv show) segment this was based on where he held a mock funeral for a dying man denied by his insurance company. It's probably the most powerful minutes of television....ever. God bless Michael Moore.

Not a bad little film set in New Orleans and featuring a very good cast. Forest Whitaker as the skilled surgeon who operatres on Rourke; Morgan Freeman as the tough old cop on Rourke's case (a role that Freeman can do in his sleep); Lance Henriksen as a psycho and Ellen Barkin as his moll; and finally Elizabeth McGovern as Rourke's love interest.

(ca) wrote: This is the "true story" behind the recent movie "Black Mass." Whitey Bulger operated an exceptionally brutal and oppressive organized crime operation in South Boston. When the federal government was focused on bringing down "the Mafia", the Italian mob, Bulger evaded scrutiny in part because his Irish mob just wasn't the flavor of the day. However, the allegations presented go well beyond that, and are what makes this story compelling. Once Bulger was arrested and brought to trial, there was little question that he was guilty of the crimes he was charged with - including personally murdering (I think dozens of) people, including many ordinary "civilians." However, the government wanted to expose claims that he had ratted out his criminal associates in return for immunity, while his own claim was that he was left alone because he bought them off, and would NEVER rate someone out. A real mystery emerges regarding the details of who in the FBI was allowing Bulger to murder and extort with total immunity, and why. Representatives for the FBI do their best to present evidence that Bulger was a rat, with extensive relationships, while the filmmakers emphasize the alternative story - that the entire operation in the DOJ was corrupt, and that whistleblowers were sidelined - all to protect a serial murderer.
