Why then does another pregnant woman violate herself to appear as the killer(TM)s latest victim? So begins another grim tale of corruption, murder and obsessive love, boasting a terrific central performance from Juno Mak with support from former AV star Sola Aoi. Revenge: A Love Story is hard hitting at times but wholly engaging.

Tibor B (es) wrote: Constrained by the pressures of working on a consciously mainstream film with a cast of well known English actors, Meadows only just delivers the goods here showing that he is most at home when working on his own terms. The misjudged "Tinned Spaghetti Western" theme is limited to Morricone-styled music and very basic story elelments and doesn't bring much to the film, except for creating a comic and farcical mood which means the second halves turn to a more serious and poignant mood is a little undermined. Having said this Meadows is still great at creating these working class characters, and gets terrific performances, notably from Shirley Henderson and Finn Atkins as the mother and daughter. It's no surprise Meadows has not returned to the mainstream as such, but this is still heaps better than many Brit drama films.

James H (es) wrote: 3.5/10. Dreadfully mundane romantic comedy, obviously made for television. Very forced, not at all natural. The performances are poor, but Greg Germann isn't too bad. The score is particularly bad. Stupid and a waste.

During the war, he thinks about Maureen O'Hara (who looks lovely in flashbacks), the girl he loves but never really set anything definite about their relationship. Before the war, Fonda was kind of a wimp and during the war, he learns about courage from Sergeant Kelly and becomes a war hero. Yes, the story is a bit typical, but it's one of my favorite war movies because there's more to it than just killing Nazis. There's a nice little love story (although I wish they would show more of it than just the five brief flashbacks) and there are good performances as well. For any Fonda or war movie fans, "immortal Sergeant" is for you.

But I Like Gent. The Beginning Sucked, The Acting was Worse, The Script was even worse, and the set up was dull. This Is A Disappointment to such a good franchise.Hopefully the sequels won't be as bad as this!If So I'm Never Liking the Gent Series again.Score: 4.5/10

Derek C (ag) wrote: A subtle and interesting film filled with enough layers and symbolism to differentiate it from the standard film that lies beneath the surface associated with "his gold". The shot selection and cinematography aren't singularly impressive, but they are a perfect complement to not take away the audience's attention away from most important part of the film, which is character development. After seeing this, I'm glad the Academy nominated Fonda for his role. Definitely a humbling character his sister would dare not touch these days.
