Perhaps it's a generational thing on my part. So, in watching this film I was willing to accept the confusion of the troubled young wife played by Williams, struggling to quash her animal desires for her handsome neighbor. It it went that far it would've been no less interesting. But director Sarah Polley couldn't leave well enough alone and took it down the heart crushing path, leaving me disgusted that movies like this get made. So, what's the message Ms. Polley, that behind the angelic face of wives like Williams whose husbands are sweet and compliant, there lies heartless, sex crazed sociopaths? To which you would respond, "hey nobody's perfect!"

Vinnie Jones definitely needed to be used more, as he played his character similar to his character in Snatch. The story wasn't as good as the original. But there are a few elements here that make you laugh. Two words: exploding clowns.

(fr) wrote: This movie was fantastic. The emotion and the feeling between the two characters were so vividly real. This was much better than "Before Sunrise" or "After Sunset" (and those were good too)
(ru) wrote: A film about the effect the Son of Sam had on an Italian community in New York City. Great performances, very Spike Lee. Maybe not one of Lee's best works, but still worth the time. CHECK IT OUT
(ca) wrote: You know those movies that are so bad they're good? Well this is one of them. Everything about this movie screams terrible but it doesn't matter because it is so good.
(de) wrote: NO,NO,NO,NO! This is a bad sequel to the Highly regarded, poise, endearing orginal. I love San Francisco but not this movie. The Animals are all back, this time wrecking havoc, lost in a city and hiding from a dog catcher. The pet owners should of learned the first time travelling they ran away, this time "misplaced". How ironic Not!This is a sequel my heart feels sad towards i rather look the other way and forget it!

(it) wrote: Toys is an exuberant and colorful...kids movie? Action movie? Spy movie? All three? At times it's like a kids movie with its atmosphere and wacky characters, the final act is action packed, and the middle act finds the characters trying to infiltrate the antagonists toy-corporation-turned-war-compound like something out of the spy genre. For that it feels tonally inconsistent. Toys could've been more straight-forward with its plotting, but the world-building, Robin Williams charm and soundtrack make it very watchable.
