(fr) wrote: A pretty decent movie to see. I remember seeing it as a child, and I still like it. The big scale idea of the movie itself is inspiring, a post-apocalyptic world ruled by aliens, and people reduced to primitive lifestyle, having to rediscover modern technology and history. Although at times it is rather dark and monotonous, it is in its entirety a rather brilliant movie.

(us) wrote: It's wildly uneven in pacing and essentially has no plot with no conclusion. It's just loaded with mindless ape humour and ass kicking from Clint Eastwood to please the male audience. The film isn't horrendous though as it does supply a sufficient amount of laughs to make it mildly amusing on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It was definitely a career low point for Eastwood though, but without him, the film would be simply unwatchable.

Two protagonists that don't get on well, lightweight atmosphere, very good chases, complete with female nudity and outdated phraseology concerning black people. It's nothing riveting but the small duration, the tense final act, the likable partnership of Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy and the sure hand of director Walter Hill ensure "48 Hrs." is a pleasant affair.
(jp) wrote: Good, but the foot comes off the pedal halfway through and the film coasts to the finish.
