Robert B (br) wrote: I rate Margin Call up on account of the acting overall and as a Kevin Spacey fan (otherwise it would be a three). The shooting is fine, with some nicely framed shots. The story is OK but was a bit disappointing in terms of tension. Some scenes could have been left out in favor of flashbacks which reveal what the characters were doing in the weeks and months prior to the meltdown: who knew, what they knew, how they contributed, etc. But despite the story not being what it could have been, Margin Call is still an enjoyable film.

Amanda C (de) wrote: I really enjoyed this movie, though it bugged my husband to read the subtitles. It's cute and quite funny and I would love to watch it again if Netflix returns it to Instant Play.

Matt S (jp) wrote: A good ol' classic B-movie that hits all the usual notes, but still entertaining none the less.

Samuel G (au) wrote: I hate to be such a minority as this film is subject to a lot of hate, but I actually really enjoyed myself. It was funny as hell and, to be perfectly honest, incredibly sexy (which is odd when your watching it with your parents). So, no, its not a fantastic film, but it does well as a guilty pleasure.

Marc V (au) wrote: On paper, this film should not succeed. It concerns a strong willed and passionate woman who's life is filled with purile distractions, who is dying of an incurable illness, and the doctor who falls in love with her. The film's glory involves not only a superb performance by Bette Davis, and an incredible death scene, but also the persons of her doctor and her best friend are so skillfully played that the authenticity of the piece is undeniable. Even Bogart appears in a supporting role as the horsehand to good effect. The film, released in 1939, faced stiff awards competition, in what was arguably the greatest year for film. While nominated for several awards, the film never achieved any, beaten out by Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz most notably.
