Barry T (au) wrote: A likeable road trip with the ever wonderful Toni Collette. She is in search for one last chance at an interview with a long lost boyfriend who disappeared. There is a lot going on and its a little muddled but its watchable thanks to Thomas Hayden church and Toni Colette. look out for a strange cameo

Jared S (it) wrote: extremely indie production. There isn't any great points being made. You just have characters linked by natural dialogue. I liked it. Could have used some polish. This kind of indie (pointless) is the reason most stay away from this kind of things. With some sharpening of his tools Joe Swanberg could actually have made something from this.

Ralph R (kr) wrote: Obama, McCain, or Clinton are likely to be terrible presidents just like this film is probably going to be a piece of crap as well.

Charlie G (jp) wrote: Wasn't as stupid as I thought it would be. Some amusing jokes.

Ben R (us) wrote: This is when Walter Hill really started sucking out loud as a director. Just this cast list alone could have made this an instant early 90's action classic. Turns out...not so much. Too much stupid over acting and arguing, nothing here feels serious. It all feels like a really stupid live action cartoon for the most part. The two blue collar, working man stereotypes are played by Paxton and Sadler. I feel like sadler was way too over the top and stupid for the most part. Paxton is a giant pussy through the whole film and if you loved him in Weird Science or Aliens or Near will be let down greatly. The rest of the black actors suffer from that really awful early 90's over the top rap look ugh! Ice T doesn't help things with his ridiculous pimp outfit. Ice Cube seems like he wanted to just walk off the the set, and probably had ideas for his character that were ignored. He seemed very pissed off because his character for the most part was a joke. Ice Cube turned out to be a better actor than this shitfest gave him credit for. I'm sorry but if you honestly think this is a "good" Walter Hill film, I suggest you check out things like Southern Comfort,Hard Times and even his newest work Bullet To The Head. Then tell me if this turdfest really stands the test of time, after watching his better films. He must of agreed because he never tried to make another film like this again. Walter Hill's urban crime films have been extremely cartoonish. The warriors worked on a comic book, cheesy action kinda way and I love that film. Both 48 hours were tongue in cheek comedy that were clever and entertaining. Trespass on the other times seems like a very old out of touch man trying to let you know how white and black people are different. He makes all the black gang members extremely dumb and stereotypical and just flat out ridiculous. Other urban gang films were coming out at the time that were just above brilliant, and were made by actual black people! Hill is one of my all time favorite directors but if I were to pick on a big fat zit in his would have to be Trespass.

Max M (kr) wrote: Terrific action picture about a group of mercenaries led by Captain Curry (Rod Taylor) who are hired to travel by rail deep into the Congo and retrieve a group of stranded townsfolk and $25 million worth of uncut diamonds.Based on the book by Wilbur Smith, and directed by the great Jack Cardiff, who began his career as a cinematographer, shooting such masterpieces for Michael Powell and Emerich Pressberger as Black Narcissus (for which he won an Oscar), The Red Shoes and A Matter of Life and Death, and moved on to directing with other fantastic action adventure pictures like The Long Ships, The Liquidator and Girl on a Motorcycle, this film is fast, brutal and exciting, despite being cut down for what was deemed excessive language and violence. Hopefully a restored version will make it's way to DVD soon.(A favorite of director Quentin Tarantino, he used both a bit of the score as well as cast actor Taylor as Winston Churchill for his most recent picture, Inglourious Basterds)

Adam B (mx) wrote: Hollywood bull crap that romanticizes theft. Pretty lame acting as well.

Marco F (jp) wrote: The whole film's concept does not work; but I have to admit that this is a guilty pleasure. This movie-particularly the second half- is bungled, convoluted and hardly makes any sense at all- but quite honestly- I didn't care. I liked the film's energy, it's effort to make fun of its own campiness. It's very enjoyable- if you don't think about it.

Brian S (ca) wrote: It's really what i expected from a video game adaptation: it's big budget, full of action and technology and fancy fighting scenes. Overall, i enjoyed watching this movie, it has it's share of zombie gore and the performances are all pretty good. One thing that almost became painfull for me are the terrible CGI effects. Recommended !!
