Johnathon W (jp) wrote: Brilliant homage to action movies that manages to poke fun at the genre while still being a pretty good one on its own. What makes the 'Cornetto Trilogy' so excellent is that each film feels unique in both the acting & filmmaking, while still retaining a distinct charm. Simon Pegg shows his chops as Sgt. Nicolas Angel, completely believable as an action star while also pulling superb double-duty with writing with director Edgar Wright. The rest of the cast is excellent as well, particularly veteran's like Broadbent & Dalton, who have the time of their lives in this movie. Wright's direction is equally superb, making fun of action movies in the first hour before delivering one of the finest & most hilarious action sequences in the last hour. A must for action fans and still my personal favorite of Wright's films.

Cliff J (fr) wrote: I could have lived without the musical numbers, and the movie did not pull me in the way I hoped it would. BUT it probably captured the bizarre genius storytelling of Roald Dahl better than any other adaptation*, even down to the uneven plot and pacing.*Except Fantastic Mr Fox which is a whole different category.

Mloy X (us) wrote: Adam Carlson (John Krasinski): [Adam sits down across from Jill at a restaurant; looks at the menu] I usually get the breakfast burrito, which is fantastic... but the pile o' pancakes with a side of ham steak is tempting. What do you think I should get? Jill Jerard (Kirsten Bell): The name of a good cardiologist?A token feel-good film version based on true events. Just what you'd expect: people disagree at first, then at one point when they finally see the bigger picture decide to do the right thing and gather together for a greater cause. It's cute but a bit too sugary-sweet-kumabaya for me. I liked the actual footage of the events spliced in with the ending credits- that was pretty neat. I do like the fact that the story of the colonel and the White House aide was real, that subplot was probably as interesting as the story of the whales themselves. And I liked the two inventor guys, from Minnesota (I think); I thought they were adorable characters. Overall, this movie was okay to watch, no really that boring to sit through but I was glad it was free on HBO because I wouldn't have wanted to pay to watch it otherwise.

David W (gb) wrote: Complete garbage with nothing of even decent quality the story structure is broken, characters without anything of interest in them, and a plot that is idiotic. Never in any world would this happen and the only proof to support our protagonist's (Josh I think either way really forgettable) claim is that the antagonist (The professor) is mean. It fails at even being christian propaganda!

Alexandr I (jp) wrote: This is the latest super pleasure shooter after "American Ultra", "Limitless" and all the rest including the old school "Scarface". Drugs these days are blended with a telekinesis and taking into account low budget have been performed fairly well, I would even say alluring..Quite colourful graphic savvy movie with an inventive plot. Nick Love wrote and derected ..oh yeah..what the impressive vision he has...The idea combined with a superiority and drugs sure will cheaply be taken over by susceptible youth (unfortunately for a short time until the body is safe and sound of course). I strongly believe that one day mankind will be rewarded by such a power but sure there won`t be drugs... or is it possible that crowd of thoughtless addicts being able to command natural forces can agree with each other?
