All the differvent film aspects along with penn's impeccable directing and the performance of a lifetime by Emile Hirshe combine in a way that is rarely ever seen making this one of the most thought provoking films I've ever seen. There wasn't a single moment I wasn't going through emotions. Whether you admire Mcandless or not isn't the point. This is the kind film that has rarely been seen before and will rarely be seen again.

The characters are poorly described and the actors are not at all credible. We are bored too as there are a lot of unnecessary dialogue that last ten minutes. The writer does not know how to deal with the dead as they die strangely or imitates the Spielberg film.

Jack H (br) wrote: This was a good film that was in a huge need for good editing. It was choppy in parts. But I liked the film. I think this type of outreach can be effective in showing the need for a salvation and also showing that there is a heaven and hell. The whole premise of this is this church does a haunted house as sa outreach with Christian themes in a real world context. But I think some of the things they showed was twisted. Such as a woman dying taking the day after pill. It would have been more believable if she had a botched abortion. As a pastor I would prob not do this but I can see how it could reach people that would never step foot in a church. I still do not hold to the fire and brimstone scare Jesus into people. I wonder how many people that get "saved" on this are walking with the Lord a year latter.

So the protagonist tries to back out of his way of life that seems like every time he pulls back he is pulled in. Weak with a handful of scenes that work great and the cast is pretty strong, if only Mickey Rourke would have woke up and actually said something. Still the film is definatetly worth a look and probably enjoyed by most.

Jens S (ca) wrote: The later Rambo films do not have a very good reputation, and deservedly so. But the first part actually has a lot more to offer than just pointless action. It is the story of a Vietnam vet who can't seem to find a place in America's society anymore. Things get out of hand pretty quickly and Rambo is as much to blame as the asshole sheriff. The action scenes aged pretty well and are still great. The social commentary seems more current than you could imagine.
