(br) wrote: Scott Sanders' jive-talking pastiche is like a Blaxploitation sendup within a Blaxploitation sendup. Think platforms, clown collars, grainy hues and gratuitous nunchucks, with knowingly bad direction to boot. The film's self-conscious stupidity is cleverly handled, and initially very funny, particularly in terms of dialogue. However, it won't take viewers long to see that Black Dynamite is a one trick pony of a movie: a catalogue of comic excesses and meaningless cliches, ultimately poking fun at a long-forgotten genre.Dynamite is simply too aimless and too repetitive to hold your attention. It clocks in at just 84 minutes, yet somehow, it feels as if it rhymes its way round in circles for a lifetime. Can you dig it? I couldn't.

(it) wrote: Filled with intense action and a unique premise, "Children of Men" is a solid dystopian flick. In a futuristic dystopia, the human race is on the edge of extinction when nobody is able to reproduce. But Theo finds himself fighting for life when he has to escort a woman, who just so happens to be the first pregnant woman in nearly three decades. The best thing about this movie is the action. If you're an up and coming director and you want to learn how to build up action scenes, chase scenes, shoot outs, and more, this is the film to study. The way they direct action scenes and bring out the grittiness in each one really says a lot. I'm normally not a fan of chase scenes, as they have mostly become fairly generic, but here, these were some of my favorite chase scenes. They were intense, real, heart pounding, and they worked really well. This movie deserves an A for it's violence and brutality. For a movie made a decade ago, it still looks really good. Most "futuristic" movies are often flooded with CGI and dated graphics, but this movie builds this dark and practical world, and it's ugly. This movie looked really good and it sets the tone early on.This movie was well written and had a really intriguing premise. The overall story and premise had me hooked throughout and I was always excited to see where the story would take me next. It's a smart and in depth human drama that really emphasizes on this collapsing society. It's not something that's common now a days and it's brutal. In the end, this film was a solid and intense futuristic thriller with plenty of positives about it.
