Chris B (fr) wrote: Patema Inverted is an anime film that I have had my eye on for a long time. The art style, the dramatic trailer and the concept all had me quite interested. Unfortunately, a good premise was not enough to keep my interest, which is especially surprising considering the film is only 90 minutes long. There are two groups of humans living on the same world, but their gravity pulls them in opposite directions, and their has been a long standing feud between the two factions. This idea is rife for exploration, but instead of exploring the themes available to them, this is just another coming of age love story wrapped up in science fiction paper. And paper thin is exactly how I would describe both the story and the characters. To be fair, the animation is gorgeous, but it is let down by poor direction, sluggish pacing, lazy writing and even a generic score. I would pass on this one unless you are really desperate for an anime film that came out in the last year. 2 out of 5 stars.

In this movie I was glad that I didn't have to stand boring and shitty themes like drugs, prostitution or bad plotted tragedy; Instead it left me a good impression and also it gave me back memories and that I felt identified with the main character. It's very touching and it has excellent cast. The only thing that would made this film perfect is that It should last at least 10 minutes more....

Watched it in it's true and home language set. I definitely do appreciate how this film, you should too. GradeA perfect 10

Adam F (fr) wrote: "Carnosaur" has a few fun sequences and some decent special effects but the movie is poorly put together and the story makes little sense. The best part of the film is Diane Ladd, who plays the most insane mad scientist you've ever seen in a movie, her plan to bring dinosaurs back to life is so bizarre that you have to see it to believe it and she gives a lot of energy to her role. For the special effects some of them look pretty bad, especially in long shots but when the Tyrannosaurus is seen from close up it's a pretty decent prop and the blood/gore is fun in a bad movie kind of way. When the movie does have dinosaurs on the screen it is entertaining but there are far too few moments where all we see are people talking about the incoming disaster so it's way too slow for a B-horror film. While there are a few shining moments in the movie, overall it's pretty bad and unless you're looking for something to make fun of with some friends there's better dinosaur films out there (there's even a better one released the same year this one came out...) I first saw the film as a ten-year-old boy incapable of reading the statement "Based on the true experiences of one American family" with any kind of skepticism. I spent the next year of my prepubescent life cowering in terror through the wee hours of the morning, incapable of sleeping while I awaited the nuclear explosion of light outside and the arrival of the Greys and the little blue doctors. Twenty years later, the film no longer terrifies me, but it is still a creepy and surreal descent into the unexplained, into a realm where mass hallucination and fact become blurred. The film forces us to wonder if mass hysteria can truly explain such phenomena or if they are truthful accounts that we simply don't want to recognize. While Communion fails to chill my soul the way it did back in 1989, it still exudes a creepy vibe that leaves one with questions about aliens, reality, God, etc. I remain a firm believer in aliens and even possibly alien visitation to this day--Communion remains an example to me of the power and influence than cinema can wield over a person's mind.

Eric H (ru) wrote: I usually associate Mel Gibson with Lethal Weapon and Braveheart but here he proves this incredible range with his superb comic performance. There are so many funny and touching scenes in this movie. Most of them are with Helen Hunt but the scene with Lola (Tomei) and the one with his daughter and her friends were also really good. The slightly off-kilter subplot with the suicidal intern is the only thing about this movie that could have been reworked or written out. Still this was a very entertaining movie.
