(fr) wrote: Very well done from the visual, directing and character development point of view. Starts as a comedy, turns into a poignant portrait of a lonely gay man who discovers the house he rented is inhabited by ghosts. He decides to help them find out what happened to them and why they are trapped in the house at the same time that the ghosts (who were a theater company, decide to help him prepare for an audition and pursue his acting ambition).

(jp) wrote: Sometimes feels a tad too glamourized, as a bizarre contrast to the debauchery just about every scene depicts either directly or offhandedly. Other times it feels like National Geographic and all you can do is contemplate what a sad little animal man was/is. Ultimately a successful provocation of cultural dissonances in a dreamlike sort of way.

(br) wrote: "Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me!" one of the best one liners in a movie ever ...
(nl) wrote: Stanley Kubrick's last movie was also a simple narrative, where Tom Cruise plays a doctor, and he learns that his wife - played by his then-real-life wife Nicole Kidman - once considered cheating on him. And in the 48 hours that follows, Cruise is tempted to cheat, whether it's with a hooker or by ending up in a weird cult sex orgy attended by the power elite. Cruise is pretty amazing in this strange odyssey of temptation (though, he has this habit of flashing his doctor's license as if it was a policeman's badge). It's interesting and maybe I'd see it again, but not anytime soon. But it's worth a watch if you're a fan of slow-paced erotic thrillers.
