The new film by Bertrand Bonello (SAINT LAURENT, HOUSE OF PLEASURES) is a terrorism thriller like no other, recalling Robert Bresson’s THE DEVIL, PROBABLY as much as it does George A. Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD. We first follow a group of tense, shifty adolescents as they prowl the streets and subways of Paris, learning through carefully delineated sequences that they’re already well underway with a bombing plot. And then it becomes something familiar, yet altogether different, as these subversives tuck away inside a shopping mall and lose themselves in consumer culture — clothes, televisions, toys, and a stirring soundtrack that includes Blondie, Chief Keef, Shirley Bassey, Bonello’s menacing electronic score, and Willow Smith. Will they survive the unseen, encroaching authorities? Or, as the walls close in, will they even survive each other? NOCTURAMA forgoes easy answers, making way for one of the 21st century’s most stunning cinematic experiences.

After young radicals, tired of the society they're living in, perpetrate terrorist attacks on Paris and then take shelter for the night in a shopping center, a massive manhunt begins. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

All this built up suspense about what Tarek is going to do is completely crushed. *SPOILERS below* It would've been nice to have an ending that was more purposeful. The audience is left still knowing that Tarek's family is sad by his death, Keren still has no friends, Katz, who seemed to view Tarek as the son he lost, is left again without a child, and Tarek's father is still probably going to die. It seemed so cute and happy towards the middle, but then it went downhill and kept going downhill. I didn't really agree with the approach the director decided to take. I think if Tarek had a more positive impact on the people he met and he was able to do something more with his life, I would've been more satisfied. However the ending was so depressing. As the camera eased out from Keren's tragically morbid face with tears in her eyes, I was like "they aren't really going to end the movie here are they?" But yep, they do. When I first heard about this movie, I thought it would be funny. I imagined the suicide bomber going to the town and making himself stand out in the crowd so everyone would notice he had dynamite strapped to his chest. Then I imagined him trying to detonate the bomb that wouldn't go off due to the "faulty fuse" as netflix described. Then I thought all the people would stop and stare at him before beating the shit of his face. Then the suicide bomber would be like "Oh shit!" But that is not how the movie went, and I have to say I was kind of disappointed. I think my version would've been both comical and dramatic. They should do a sequel to this movie using my version. Then they can call it "For Tarek". Yeah. If I could talk whatever language those people were talking, I'd make the movie myself.

Bill T (br) wrote: Tibbs is a bit of a fun movie, but not so fun movie that it becomes incredibly entertaining. It can be easily summarized as Sidney Poitier makes a cop exploitation movie, his way. Which can only mean while we get SOME elements of the genre, it's all done TASTEFULLY, there's SOME violence, but not overly gratuitous, some nudity, but it's not exploitational. So you know? It's certainly ENTERTAINING, but not overly great as far as Poitier movies go. Martin Landau is along for the ride, chewing up the scenery as usual. Finally, this movie shows some rather LAX police work happening. Poitier wanders in to a pool hall full of big beefy guys all by himself?Sloppy investigative work, but the biggest thing happens in the end, when Tibbs gets the bad guy, takes him to his car, with no handcuffs, and just LEAVES HIM ON THE SIDEWALK when Tibbs calls into the station, therefore enabling the bad guy to, you know, wander off. Pretty curious movie.
