Greg H (kr) wrote: This movie was painful to watch. The main character just goes around ruining people's days. Imagine watching the Jackass movie, but without any humor or comedy. Like if they just messed with strangers and put bugs in people's hamburgers. Or if they walked down the street and told random people that they're ugly. That's essentially the entire plot of this movie; some guy being a supreme douchebag for 2 hours. I found it very hard to sit through this film. I would have turned it off after the first 20 minutes if it wasn't for the rave reviews on this site and IMBD about how this is such a "great thriller," and "amazing for this genre." And even then I had to skip through parts of it because it was so slow and annoying. I use the word "annoying" deliberately, not for lack of better vocabulary, but because that's what this movie was. It was literally annoying to watch. If you enjoy being annoyed, then watch this movie!
Mike B (ca) wrote: I started watching this expecting the worst. While slow developing, the acting is decent enough to hold the attention. The production values were better than expected, which was a surprise as well. Works out the way you think it will, but is still reasonably satisfying.

Graham M (jp) wrote: What's infuriating about this movie is it feels only a few tweaks away from being excellent. The black-and-white animation gives it an amazing neo-noir look that also sometimes makes it hard to tell what's going on. The animation is hyper-realistic for the most part which makes the occasional odd face movement stand out all the more. This may also be the first animated movie I've seen where I feel like a lot of the voice actors were miscast. They're giving it their all but the voices just don't seem to match the character designs. Plotwise, it sets up an intriguing story that blends the sci-fi and film noir setting with some good twists and turns that runs for just a bit too long to stay interesting. It's worth watching for its uniqueness and its often stunning visuals but it also feels like a missed opportunity in many ways.

Dustin G (au) wrote: Sammy Fuller's ode to pickpockets and the era of the 'red scare' is a fun, entertaining, and typically for Fuller, tough as nails flick that, while lacking here and there in directorial greatness, makes up for it with every frame being chalk full of the realness of Fuller's first hand experiences with the characters and the subject matter. Fuller presents an unapologetic view of the shady and dangerous life of someone hunted not only by the police, but also the government. In short, classic Fuller.
