Its action, special effects, and creature design, while far from Oscar-worthy, are a solid B-, making it a decent sci-fi movie. Liev Schreiber's performance is arguably the best thing the movie has going for it. Unfortunately, Schreiber alone isn't enough to save this film.

(gb) wrote: This movie is a zillion kinds of excellent because it's got: a cracking cast including Ben Kingsley, Sidney Poitier, River Phoenix, Mary McDonnell (President Roslin fo-evah!!!), Robert Redford being timelessly hot, David Strathaim, Dan Ackroyd, and James Earl Jones; an incredible soundtrack by Branford Marsalis; and it's crazily relevant to information security and the NSA's creepin' on American citizens. The script is also really clever and funny, just this side of camp. They really don't make movies like this anymore and that's a very sad thing...so watch this movie and be happy.

S hr trevlig var den brittiska armn frmodligen inte i Indien p 1800-talet, men det r knappast fr att se en sann bild av den brittiska imperialismen som man ser en Shirley Temple-film.

(jp) wrote: Watched this on a plane and I thought it was rather slow, bland and many moments seemed to lack meaning. It felt like a poorly executed Lost in Translation. When forced to watch it a second time I began to see themes running from the first scene to the last and the sheer beauty of the story and its presentation BLEW ME AWAY. If you didn't get it the first time, watch it a second time and consider the effects of fear on life, cultural preconceptions about danger and what wealth looks like. A Hologram For The King is so much more than it appears to be.
