Dustin D (de) wrote: Why does this movie exist? ...Let's take a look -Not scary -Not funny -Not gory enought to be an all out bloodbath -Incredibly bad writing, characters, everything -Agonizingly boring, 90 minutes feels like 90 years So, it's unscary, unfunny, unentertaining and then not even violent or depraved enough to even be salvaged as smut. I like low budget movies, and I like B-movies, but this is a tragically bad example of both. This isn't even a Z-movie. 1/10 (Abysmal)

Austin C (jp) wrote: A totally barking mad joy of a film. Very well made, slick with suberb effects, amazing for a first film. Even now it still stands up well as a piece of extreme cinema combining belly-laughs and slapstick with subtlety and satire. Only the Crank films could dare go head to head with this.

Robert L (au) wrote: Murry pulls a fast one Bill Murry makes his directorial dbut in a movie about robbery, chaos and strict bus drivers. Quick Change (for those who don't know) is a film that starts with a clown (Bill Murry) taking a bank hostage and making ludicrous demands to the police chief (Jason Robards) outside, however does this clown have a plan up his sleeve or is it all just one big joke? That is only the introduction to Quick Change, the majority of the movie is actually about how Grimm (Murry) and his 2 accomplices attempt to escape the town and police as well as all it's inhabitants. It should be easy to see by now that I look favourably on Quick Change, I see it as a lovable rouge movie that we don't get enough of these days, however the film was made in 1990. Quick Change is a film that never forgets it's heart or it's wit, mostly which is delivered of course by Murry. Quick Change somehow rings of "The Man Who Knew Too Little" and that's not a bad thing, the movie has a element of mistaken identity and thrills (just like TMWKTL), it gives minor actors a change in the limelight (also like TMWKTL) and it has a feeling of overall happiness even in the middle of despair. All features I like in my films, and Quick Change has them all. Quick Change also has great chemistry from all 3 of the leads along with the supporting cast. Our 3 mains are Murry, Gina Davis and Randy Quaid. The 3 play off each other wonderfully, you never doubt the realism or the sincerity of the characters. Murry of course steals the film as a man who (just like in TMWKTL) is making it up as he goes along, in all the right ways. One of the other things I like about Quick Change is that it includes moments that you wouldn't expect or feel are even needed but somehow add to the overall film, like the trio being robbed stands out as a particularity strong memory. I think it is the snappy script that makes Quick Change the film it is; Murry's delivery of Howard Franklin's lines is perfect. The rest of the cast all hit their points wonderfully. Quick Change in places reminds me of why I watch movies in the first place, for example mixed in with all the other madness is a very young looking Tony Shalhoub as a foreign taxi driver who doesn't speak any English at all, his performance is magic. Shalhoub is beautiful in his role, even though it is a small part (for the man who would be Monk) but he makes it count. Quick Change is a warm and funny movie that reminds us how enjoyable films can be.
