The two leads are, for the most part, bland, unfathomable and impossible to understand (even for a woolyback like myself) and the fights, while not too laughable, display an absence of population doubly noticeable in the lamentably sparse football sequences. Liam Boyle's infatuation with dull, proto-hooligan Bell is hindered by its failure to admit its obviously homo-erotic undertones while the latter's attempt to construct a believably sympathetic character goes some way to explain the script's total failure as a piece of entertainment. Samson and Holden's attempts to create a bygone world of trainers and tantrums feels forced and unwieldy with many scenes going nowhere and adding up to little. Adding songs from the period does nothing to alleviate the general lack of direction. Terrible. 1/2 a star for the historical accuracy of the clothes and hair-cuts.

They land on top of a New York apartment inhabited by a drug dealer and her female, androgynous, bisexual nymphomaniac lover, a fashion model. The aliens soon find the human pheromones created in the brain during orgasm preferable to heroin, and the model's casual sex partners begin to disappear. This increasingly bizarre scenario is observed by a lonely woman in the building across the street, a German scientist who is following the aliens, and an equally androgynous, drug-addicted male model. (Both models are played by Anne Carlisle, in a dual role.) Darkly funny and thoroughly weird.
