Obvious Child

Obvious Child

An immature, newly unemployed comic must navigate the murky waters of adulthood after her fling with a graduate student results in an unplanned pregnancy.

For aspiring comedian Donna Stern, everyday life as a female twenty-something provides ample material for her relatable brand of humor. On stage, Donna is unapologetically herself, joking about topics as intimate as her sex life and as crude as her day-old underwear. But when Donna winds up unexpectedly pregnant after a one-night stand, she is forced to face the uncomfortable realities of independent womanhood for the first time. Donna';s drunken hookup - and epic lapse in prophylactic judgment - turns out to be the beginning of an unplanned journey of self-discovery and empowerment. . John A (au) wrote: Jack Deth is my hero! Low budget - check. Laughable acting - check. Goofy effects - check. Was I entertained the whole way through? Check! It's hard to find a sci-fi film that doesn't take itself so seriously.

Stefanie C (kr) wrote: What would you be willing to do to ensure your survival? Would you sacrifice your honor, your body, your soul? Would you murder? Is moral ambiguity permissable during times of war? The opening film footage of Hitler, Mussoulini, the Russian fronteir, and bombings juxtaposed against the narration of a litany of 'Oh Yeahs' provides a context for these questions. If you have prostiuted and murdered in order to live, is yours a life worth living? A brilliant and damning critique!

JJ M (br) wrote: Excellent. Sad to say I only watched it now for the first time but well worth it. It still stands up a great sci-fi film of the modern day. No need for a prequel here, was there Lucas? Wait, I shouldn't tempt fate...!

Bill T (ru) wrote: Probably the best Christopher Lee Dracula film outside of the original. Surprisingly full of sex and a lot of violence, this is one you probably shouldnt show to the kiddies. Women and men are impaled and the proceedings are awfully macabre. It's great though, and a definite improvement over the previous 2 movies. See this if you can!
