Pranav K (us) wrote: a bit distressing but a good film; excellent cinematography. movie does a good job of twisting and turning your political and social views from one extreme to another and back. the protagonist is tortured so much mentally that it starts to take its toll on you and makes watching this difficult (signs of excellent film-making but also poor box office...)

With a troubled and delinquent past, he tries to find a better path in life by having joined the police force. Eventually he finds himself involved in all sorts of trouble when trying to make a bigger drugbust undercover. Everything in his past seems to come back to HP and he does not know where to turn in the end. This is not bad, it is a reasonably wellcrafted movie. Strong acting, good dramatization. The flaw is I reckon the script. It just does not hold up to 100%. It is a bit floaty and not focused enough. And one can sense that the makers have looked at both "Pusher" and "Rush" for more than inspiration. "Uro" is not bad as said, but it does not hit the nail fully on.

The effects were bad, I didn't laugh once, and the only thing that interested me at all was that three-second footage of Crash Bandicoot in the mall scene. Seriously, why watch this movie when you can go play Crash Bandicoot?
Matty S (fr) wrote: The reputation and success of this film escapes me. Though this should be potent and interesting --- it ends up being sluggish, dated and without any clear level of focus. Diane Keaton, always an engaging actor, seems very miscast in this period piece. This movie actually feels like 1981 vs. the time it is intended to portray. Cinematography and musical score are both quite good. Those are the only real positives I found in this movie.
Edgar C (ag) wrote: A fun, very 'old school' mystery-thriller that gets the job done thanks in part to a worthwhile premise about a man sent to jail because he can't prove his innocence regarding the murder of his wife. His assistant at work (the attractive Ella Raines) decides to do the detective work herself. Fanchot Tone is a top notch villlain and gomex plays the detective to perfection. Raines is suitable in the role of the heroine, although I didn;t find her memorable per say. the first half works better due to the mystery. The second half, which attempts to be more of a thriller, perhaps does not work as well, but overall the film is fun. It's nice to see some how these kinds of films were done in the earlier days of Hollywood. Not only a little lesson in film history, but an effective story as well.
