SR K (ru) wrote: Camp X-Ray held my attention, I really became interested in watching this relationship with a female guard and prisoner develop. The relationship had a messy start and in all reality, it's a little difficult to believe there would be any opportunity at all for these two characters to form any kind of bond. They are literally the only two guard/inmates having any dialog at all..but still, I found myself tensing up whenever they did talk, thinking she'd be disciplined at any moment..but the only discipline she really got was from a rejected superior. These prisoners face real isolation and literally have no worthwhile human contact. I wish, since the movie was testing boundaries of discovery anyway, I had been able to learn more about the prisoner. Just beiing talkative wasn't enough.. but what do you expect at Guantanamo Bay. I believe this man is innocent and it's difficult to accept "detainees" can be kept for so long without any effort to prove if they have guilty people or not. 8 yrs is a long time to be detained.

Jason C (ru) wrote: John Hawkes is always good, and the movie is interestingly shot. The way the story unfolds is also intriguing for the most part. I should have liked it more, I just didn't.

Bobby L (jp) wrote: This is Harryhausen's second to last movie, and was his third and last Sinbad picture. Patrick Wayne, son of John, is wooden, and the main villainess is so over-the-top that it's, at times comical. However, this does feature some of his best work in Trog, a trogloydite (think missing link meets caveman) who is so emotive and expressive and interacts beautifully with the human actors. The fight near the end with a sabertooth tiger is well done as well.

Joel A (br) wrote: A stunning film centres on an incredible jewellery thief & his immaculate job in Paris & the consequences that follow. The key scene 'the robbery' goes for 22 minutes in detail with no dialogue & music & keeps you breathless. Directed with incredible precision & acted perfectly this is truly a fantastic film. The locales of Paris are perfect in this film & it's a great film that keeps you guessing ...a true French Classic.

Generoso F (mx) wrote: Perkins plays insane well, but it's Tuesday Weld who steals the show as the all American high school beauty with the small cracks in her psyche. This charmingly disturbed film has a fun plot which is somewhat predictable but none the less entertaining.

Erik N (fr) wrote: I maintain a short list of movies that are 'critic filters'. This means I permanently disregard/block a critic that does not like films on the list. Others include 'Hoop Dreams', original 'Star Wars', 'Forbidden Planet', 'Breaking The Waves'. A rotten review of such films suggests to me that the critic is a) unable to overcome their preconceptions/prejudices about said film/filmmaker or b) are unable to understand the film and its place in the historical context of the industry. Maybe a bit of both. Regardless, their opinion veers so askew to mine as to be unrelatable. CT, HD is on that list. #FilmHubrisForever
