Edan C (ca) wrote: What a film, blistering action, quality acting, better than Daniel Day Lewis in Abraham Lincoln! In the top 5 films of my life so far! Foreshadowing is beautiful from the get go!

Kim W (kr) wrote: This is an uplifting treasure of a movie. I highly recommend this film to all parents with their kids. The message is profound and told by a legendary quirky cast of characters. They just don't make movies like this any more. I didn't know what to "expect"...but Expecting Mary is a hit. Go see this film.

Paul D (es) wrote: It has a fairly original feel to it, but it is also a seriously dull affair with a messy storyline.

None of your questions get answered. Although, this may have been Van Sant's objective. Maybe all we'll ever know is what we can glean from second-hand observation.

Steve W (br) wrote: Loren Avedon returns yet again as a completely new character in The King of Kickboxers. (aka Karate Tiger 4, No Retreat No Surrender 4)Jake (Avedon) has just won a Thai kickboxing match and has become a champion. Some hulking goon named Khan (Billy Blanks) ambushes Jake and kills his little brother. Ten years later, Jake sees Khan fighting in a movie and goes undercover in Thailand to infiltrate a snuff film ring. There's plenty going on in this movie. This is Loren Avedon's "Kickboxer", if that makes any sense. There's training montages with a mentor, a love interest, and a very intense final showdown with Khan in a cage of death. The King of Kickboxers should be viewed by martial arts fans.

Adrian B (it) wrote: Good acting especially Annette Benning and Naomi Watts but the story is a touch depressing

Michal Z (it) wrote: If you ignore the 'filmy' happy ending you'll end up with sharp and observational if not a littlle too superficial analysis of our search for the 'perfect partner'.
