I have to say I was quite skeptical by the end of the film because of the lack of consistency between her paintings recorded on film and those done without the cameras rolling. Interesting topic and people presented in a fairly unbiased manner until the last third of the film.
(ru) wrote: The best thing about this film is its setting amongst a dignified American Indian people. You are promised a twist and you get one. There is some wisdom and perspective in the film that might help some watchers. Interestingly the cosmic vision of the elder is not far from that of some cutting edge physicists. The tall policeman should team up with Steven Seagal film as father and song.
(it) wrote: The rendition of the character El-Ibrahimi is predicated upon him receiving a call on his cellphone from a phone number associated with terrorists. During the several times he is interrogated and tortured by his abductors, he is never asked a simple straightforward question like, "you received a call on such and such date, that lasted x minutes; who was the call from and what did you talk about?" This movie is not fantasy, or science fiction, it is about a harsh, frightening, reality. I expect a reality based plot to be "realistic." To not have his interrogators ask him the most direct, the most obvious question, is stupid, and a serious plot flaw. Another stupidity is the omission of the reality that the NSA would, no doubt, be monitoring all calls to and from suspected terrorist cell phone numbers. Yeah, yeah, I get that they weren't making a documentary, but the writers could have better presented the "reality."

(de) wrote: Not a bad little heist romance. The acting was decent, but the ending of the movie was where it really shined, not a bad little flick at all.

(br) wrote: The two minutes' hate for this movie isn't easy to understand. The stuff with David Hyde Pierce and the veterinarian is compelling, and the rest of it is funny without being over the top.The sheer amount of random strange thrown in is interesting, too.
(jp) wrote: Quick, sharp and ingeniously funny, Hot Fuzz brings the best out of writer/director Edgar Wright as well as Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in this comedy masterpiece.
(gb) wrote: I am a big fan of Alfred Hitchcock, but this is one of his weaker films, even though it is still very watchable. The storyline is a little bit simple and lacks a bit of complexity, which you come to expect from his other films.
(es) wrote: Hitch was a great director but most of the scripts he used to direct suffered from the same "illness": they often betrayed suspense in favor of romance or comedy. Highsmith's novel is the exception. Creepy atmosphere, photography, music, MacGuffins. A film typical of Hitch - but even better, more tasty, more engaging, more homogenous. A film that ends with a mindblowing carousel ride and that can convert a tennis match into a breathtaking fight for survival. Simply one of Hitchcock's best films.
