Guillaume H (es) wrote: The original version of what was reshot as the bad ''Exorcist: The Beginning'' released a year earlier, this better version would have been a 4 but the last 20 minutes has some cheesy visuals, a constraint of the troubled production so i'm almost tempted to let it slide but no. I find this movie well paced, elegant, nourishing in terms of origin story. The only thing i miss its that they do not delve deeper into the history of the church and how it came to be there (a point that is ironically resolved in the far lesser ''Beginning''). The lead actress is also intriguing and unconventional, making for a strong co-lead. That the producers decided to scrape this and get a reshoot by Renny Harlin was a dumb mistake. The reshoot is vulgar and childish while this is somber, grave and deeper. I give this 3.5 but what i mean is 3.7
Riff J (de) wrote: Good thriller. Felt like it had the potential mid-way through to become a great thriller. Regardless, it's a good movie that should give a few scares to non-Horror fans. Paul Walker as usual does a great job selling his part. And his nemesis in the movie has the perfect voice for the role. All in all it does come together pretty well, hence still warrants 3* imho.
