Peppermint Candy

Peppermint Candy

In the spring of 1999, a group of old friends gather to celebrate their 20 year reunion. Among the group is Yeong-ho, a cold, unhappy man, whose demeanor puts a damper on the festivities. The seriousness of Yeong-ho"s depression becomes apparent, however, when he climbs a railroad bridge and looks like he might jump. At this crucial moment, memories of seven crucial episodes from Yeong-ho"s past flood his mind.

John T (jp) wrote: Although it was neat to watch the fighting and some of the mutants were neat, this movie was a bit too goofy for my taste. It wasn't a cool movie, it was meant to be funny (chainsaw out of a girl's ass for a power, that's the tone this has).

crystal c (kr) wrote: love this movie, it shows how all Christian preachers should be and how they should help those in need

Peter R (ru) wrote: For people who are thinking of seeing this film, please do not watch it without watching the TV show Firefly first. Otherwise you will be thrown into the deep end not knowing what is going on half the time. This film has a tad darker tone to its TV show predecessor, but it is definitely committed to the style and charm that every "browncoat" has come to love about the adventures of Serenity. For me personally, I am disappointed with a few things this film left us with. I'm sure Whedon planned or hope for a sequel, however even if that were so, there were unanswered questions for some of the characters and unsatisfactory outcomes for some of the others.Special mention should be made for Chiwetel Ejiofor's great performance, which without could of dampen the overall feel of the film. With that said the execution of the film was suitable and should be pleasing for most Firefly fans. However don't expect to find answers to questions you have brought with you from Firefly, I believe Whedon has answered at least some of those questions via comics and books.

Alex W (kr) wrote: I was surprised at the low use and critic reviews for this movie, I was never on the edge of my seat but something kept my interested. I guess i was more into the weird relationships these people had with each other then the "mystery". you dont usualy expect this much sex and nudity from a movie with meg ryan in it. also mark ruffalo's penis.

Alan V (nl) wrote: Blah. Nowhere near as interesting or provocative as it thinks it is, with "twists" that are alternately predictable and laughable.

Brian V (jp) wrote: Nothing more than a 3+ hour communist love-fest... I had more fun watching Delphine Seyrig perform household chores for 3+ hours in the feminist "Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles". The only fun part was watching this pathetic dilettante John Reed die from spotted typhus because the pinkos couldn't afford the medicine. Oh the irony! It would have been a more interesting film if Reed was forced to live the rest of his life in the hellhole he helped to create. And then they decided to give the smug, real-life communist the Academy Award for Best Director for this piece of cinematic trash. Yet another reason to avoid this colossal snoozefest.

Brian V (mx) wrote: This was one of the most predictable movies ever produced and putting it in the category of suspense is laughable. If not for the courage of the great Vincent Cassel, Derailed would be lost.

Marie J (nl) wrote: One of my all time favorite romantic comedies. Can watch this on repeat, never gets old and jokes still make me laugh!

Andrew I (jp) wrote: I like old Film Noirs, and this one is ok, I suppose. It starts off quite boring and slightly unbelievable, ending up so convoluted it becomes almost farcical. The drawbacks with this film are manifold - the lead actors aren't great, the print I saw was so grey and blurry you could hardly see what was happening and the plot all happens in the second half. Despite these shortcomings, it's perfectly watchable and almost enjoyable. 6.75/10
