Jason T (au) wrote: It's got plenty of action but can't compare to the best war movies. Using real Navy Seals is different but comes at the cost of stiff acting and Call of Duty like dialogue. The heart is in the right place with a good sense of patriotism.

Noname (gb) wrote: For being a B movie from the 80's this is not to bad actually. i have seen it several times and i still enjoy this flick very much. We have Michael Dudikoff from the American Ninja movies in the main role. His sidekick is Steve James and they did many action movies together before. Story follows a racist organization "The Pentangle" to stop a black man running for the Senate in New Orleans aswell as other activities like a hunting game in the swamp/forest.. great action scenes with an average story. Worth a looksy !

Mimi S (ca) wrote: Whilst it's a fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, it's totally unrealistic with a daft storyline. The film is about two former lovers, Gwen Harrison (Catherine Zeta Jones) and Eddie Thomas (John Cusack) who were once known as America's Sweethearts. However Gwen and Eddie's marriage ended when Gwen cheated on Eddie and left him for Spaniard, Hector (Hank Azaria). This lead Eddie to have a nervous breakdown. A year later publicist Lee Phillips (Billy Crystal) has to reunite the two for a press junket to promote their new film, directed by quirky director Hal Weidmann (Christopher Walken). Gwen is accompanied by her humble sister Kiki (Julia Roberts) who is treated like a servant by self-centred Gwen. Some parts of the film are actually really funny, especially when Hector calls Eddie, "pussy boy" and Lee's unfortunate enounters with a doberman. However the film is really unrealistic and follows the formula of a typical Hollywood rom-com which makes it loose points. Whilst the acting is decent; Catherine Z-J is very good at portraying the typical manipulative diva celebrity and Julia Roberts and John Cusack give sympathetic performances, although I swear Julia Roberts just does the same kind of films all the time. The storyline was a bit stupid and doesn't really portray the real world of celebrity. Apart from a few funny moments this film is too silly to be taken seriously. Whilst it's a fun watch, its like every other late 90s, early 00s rom-com. Grade: C-
Shantel D (ca) wrote: Hmmmm, good story... would have been more enjoyable if I could have tolerated the acting. I know half the point of Lewis' movies seem to be the bad acting, but I can only take so much - "Holy bananas!! It's a woman's leg!!"... really??
Kyle K (ag) wrote: A movie about Man's timeless quest for eternal life and love. All religions follow the same story of our flawed mortal beings seeking our own worldly salvation and transcendence only to come up short - shackled by inescapable limitations of our mortality. All is not lost, however, as there is a message of hope. "Death is the path to Awe." It is only because of death that we can truly be in awe of life itself, and find grace in our existence, however flawed it might be.
